I always thought that was a kool camo but there does not seem to be very many pictures of it floating around these days. I have a M880 I would like to do it to if I could find some good side views. Ah yes, the early 80's If I remember right, us tankers were wearing black berets then also.
Phil, looks like I will get out there late Tuesday night the 7th to load-up Wed morning and haul it back. At first I was planning on going out and taking as much time as needed to get it road worthy and driving back. But it has to be moved by the 10th and I now have to be in Arkansas to do some...
Thanks for the offer, but I was looking for someone there real close that could check the truck over before I come out there in April to get it. Ft Collins is still a little north of you I think.
At Co forestry, I've got a 1952 M135 duce lot# 9065 that I will need to pick up. Auction page says they don't help with loading. Has anyone gotten anything from there in the past. If you are going to be out that way could you give my truck a look? Also it you are coming from that way to KC and...
Bring plenty of before pictures with you for PU. A bunch of us got hosed earlier this year with M105 trailers in St Louis that we moved. Auction Pic's were nice, actual trailer was jacked-up bad. Take a look http://www.steelsoldiers.com/327508-post17.html
I and 3 of my buddies all have 109A3's , none of them will do 55 on flat ground without getting into the red. The drag of the box and extra weight just won't let them preform at the super sonic :wink:rocket fast speed of a M35. Remember military convoys travel at 45mph with a catch-up speed of 50.
It is a security door that whatever unit that had it, made to keep folks from getting into the back of the truck when the canvass was on it. Most likely it was a supply or maintenance duce.
All tanks leak, that's why since the 50's they have a tarp in their BII. The M1's are not as bad as the M60s and they were a lot better than the M511.
Bob, what part of Kansas are you in?? I am up here in DeSoto. Dave2cents
What was the total in days, food, fuel, rooms and repairs? I am planning a trip from Drum down to the midwest and was trying to get a ballpark in costs. Hope you are on the mend.
I was down there getting a preview and I would say over half of the trucks being sold there this month were from IL guard units! Also a bunch from the 33rd and 35th Div.
