I would be careful of any used engines. I have a 1986 M1028 engine that had 10K miles on it. I have it since 1998 and still would not sell it with a warranty. It is a 30 year old engine. I know it is good but it seems every time I sell a 6.2 someone wants to turn the fuel up or add a turbo and...
Tis true. But a little due vigilance and it will never happen that fast. When they start seeping is the time to replace them. If you wait for catastrophic failure I guess that's the way it goes. I had a plow truck rub the aluminum line thru when the manifold clamp that held them in place rusted...
I bought several sets in the past few years. I sourced good ones from NAPA. I made things a lot easier and removed the left inner fender. I was able to get the lines in the bracket at the left rear of the engine and reassemble the truck with excellent results. Same truck I changed the valve...
Being Wednesday and 3 days after the paint I got to thinking how I hate tape removal after the paint sets a few days. The solvents in the paint always mess with the adhesives. But Lucky me. I was able to remove all the tape and only had 1 foul up on the front inner edge of the hood. It pulled...
Do you have a stock glow plug system? If the system is stock it will cycle the glow plugs a few times after the engine is running on a cold start . It works as an emissions cycle and aids in cold engine idling and smoothing the engine. I always liked that after glow. Good Luck.
Have you examined the throttle shaft seals on the injection pump? They are known to leak. A $5. set of small O rings and about 4 hours later the problem could be solved. Finding an air leak is hard. It will NOT always leak fuel. Adding to the issues is modifying the fuel system. Every time that...
I will look. I am a bit scared when I see where the picture was taken. That gets everything in the clutter zone and I declutter on occasion and am NOT as careful as I should be. If it's paid for and don't owe me anything I shred it. The book wouldn't fit thru the shredder so that I feel good...
With the heavy rain and cooler temperatures came a need to get a bit of heat in the garage bay of the barn. I was away from home working and the Wife made things nice and cozy warm. I was released from duty early today so I came home and with a friends help it was on. And that went so well. The...
The little metal ground prong in the front light sockets is notorious for breaking off. I recommend you change out the light sockets. I bought new ones at NAPA, Autozone and salvaged them from scrap vehicles all along the way. Free stuff that would other wise be wasted in the scrapping process...
This AM is 10* warmer than yesterday. With a little luck I can get this task completed today. Family and friends have offered to help and the pictures are all ready to get the factory 3 color woodland camo pattern done. I always liked the factory look with no camo on the trim, brush guard or...
5) When replacing system, Has anyone have a lot of problems with the manifold studs? Breaking or stripped/stripping?
If this is a concern. I would not worry. Do you have access to an oxygen / acetylene torch. If so the 9/16" nuts on the 3/8" studs will be a breeze. This is one of my customers...
One must capture the moment. After some contemplating and nay saying it was thought best to start the job. Just started out as a simple caulking of the seams on the fiberglass top. Had a friend offer to help out and in went from there. Not painted but sealed and that is a big step in the right...
Nope. It's NOT going to happen today. Ice on the windshield and away from home work till dark. I have NO heat in the barn and I want to keep it that way for now. Heat will be coming but not while painting. Tomorrow MAYBE. I will keep you posted. I have a full schedule. Stay Safe and Happy. Thank...
Not much excitement. The M1009 is all taped and papered ready for paint. The paint and sealer is out on the bench. T'was the night before painting and all thru the barn. The Rooster was crowing and the papering was done. The paint was on the work bench in cans. You get the jest. the new Harbor...
The piece you have circled is the vacuum flux equalizer. Without this piece all will go well until something else flux up. That piece was basically put there to make assembly a breeze. It only fit the modulator one way and eliminated errors at the point of assembly. Not needed unless you are a...
PM me an address. And I am sure you have a few expired Kentucky license plates for bargaining material. I'm not free but I'm cheap. I doubt I will miss one of them.
