Then you've got to worry about producing too much torque for various components in a stock deuce. Like the transmission itself. Or the spline ends of your axles. Or U-joints. etc...
50" tires probably won't fit on a deuce, anyways. Not a stock 6x6 one, anyways.
If you have to turn the fuel up to make the engine produce enough torque at the wheels to accelerate at that higher gearing then you're probably not going to get better fuel mileage.
At least, I wouldn't think so.
If I were you, I'd ask around and see if anyone on the board has put those...
All three would bump the theoretical top speed up to 102 MPH.
But that doesn't mean the vehicle would ever reach that. At a certain point, the wheels would not produce enough torque to move the truck past a certain speed. Tweaking the IP would help that... but I highly doubt you'd ever get...
4Lo.com :: Final Gear Ratio, Crawl Ratio, Tire Size Calculators
a stock deuce:
40" tires
6.7221 differential ratio
Transfer case is 1 in high
.79 OD ratio. I think I read somewhere that some deuces have different OD ratios, but I think .79 is the most common.
Put in max RPM of 2500 and leave...
I bought a 816 wrecker a couple of months ago and have not been able to get ahold of anyone at the GSA office since then.
I was told by the San Antonio yard manager where I got the truck to contact Jewel Sam-Kpakra but the number he gave me for her is no longer used. It has a message with a...
Question...
What exactly does the lack of oil pressure in the first 10 seconds of operation mean? The engine is still operating with lubrication from the residual film of oil on the parts, right?
The winch truck I paid $770 (plus $77 GL fee) for has so far cost me
~$120 in title and 5 year FMV registration (I think, don't have the figures in front of me). ~$160 for 6 months insurance through State Farm. Some people have even gone cheaper, like through a collector's policy with Hagerty...
Possibly this has been asked before...
But I'm curious, does anyone know for sure if various other components like the wheel bearings and differential gears can handle the higher road speeds?
Fuel density compensator. I dunno how it works, either.
The FDC isn't the only thing that makes the LD series engines good at burning a wide array of fuels. The high compression ratio is also supposed to be a big part of it, I think.
I respectfully disagree.
Imo, rights cannot be earned on behalf of others. Rights are used and preserved... or lost. And only by those who are willing to lose or keep them.
I agree with using good taste. But that's a matter of opinion and taste. Not universal fact.
The fact of the matter...
Maybe you don't realize it, but that came off as very arrogant.
Personally, I wouldn't presume to tell someone what they should or shouldn't put on their truck. If SOLICITED, I will give my opinion on aesthetics or appropriateness... but to set myself up as some kind of "keeper of the hobby"...
8 grand, yikes. I'm sure it's worth it...
But GL deuces go for 1,500 to 3,000. How much would a 40kw, 60kw, or 80kw generator head cost?
etA: or for that matter, if you remembered to rub your lucky rabbit's foot, maybe you could find an old 30 or 40 kw MEP generator with a bad engine but...
I don't know. That's part of why I'm mentioning the idea here.
But I can't imagine it's very much. All it needs is just enough positive pressure to keep water from invading the seals. And water pressure at a depth of 3 feet can't be very high.
