Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

I didn't get any real panoramic photo's, but take my word for it; For the most part, it is barren out here. Some areas have dense pine outcroppings, but not where we were. The next most solid thing is a 4" fence post. Not gonna cut it. As far as scotch blocking the tires, we basically did by...

Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

I considered that, but there was nothing reckless about it. Besides, the incident is on record with the requirement of a commercial wrecker anyway. Not that I can think of. At least nothing short of walking everywhere you want to drive, poking the ground with a shovel. The deuce didn't sink...

Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

I bet it would have. Lot's more weight and footprint. I didn't figure I'd get it, but it was worth a shot. Big rig tow bills are huge. Didn't hurt the deuce at all, just got it muddy.

Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

Never needed 'em to pull myself or anyone else out. Wouldn't have mattered, though, with the soft ground and the huge weight disparity. Just would have pulled me toward the Pete at a lower speed. Yanking on it forward was moving the rig, but the commercial wrecker was necessary to get the...

Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

Well, found the limits of the big bad deuce yesterday. The girl I'm seeing has an older brother who drives OTR for a living. Well, trying to swing his fully loaded rig around after all the moisture we had out here last week proved disastrous when he hit a soft spot in the yard and the rig sunk...

    Almost done

Yup. Good stuff; covers much better than Rustoleum OD. I used my thumb  And yes, it is beautiful out here. I love the Eastern plains, though it's not usually THIS green. Been a wet year.

    NP203

Pick up a junk yard 208. It's been my experience that, despite the aluminum housing, the 208 is actually a tougher case. 203's are notorious for not staying in gear when they start to wear out. The 205 is yet a better choice, but a more involved swap.

    Almost done

Yes. It's a tight squeeze, but with the speedo drive housing removed and the fork lever loose, I was able pry the housing out about 1-1/2" and then rotate it 180 degrees, finally squashing my abdomen with it once it came off.;) I expected some weight, but that sucker surprised me! Weighs...

    Almost done

Well, I've had it a little over 3 weeks, and I've just about wrapped up the details. Still need to replace the driver window frame, replace all the wood for the troop seats and get the horn button to stay put. I got the sprags replaced, all fluids and filters changed, all lights working, etc...

    GL or Private sale?????

On GL??? When I was bidding, most of the M35's W/W in running condition were right about what my winning bid was; $4,400. Then GL charged their 10% and tax, bringing it to $5,200. I've seen the auctions go in the 1-2k range for really rough or not driveable units, but it seems that...

    20 x ? wheels for 52" Michelins?

Allright guys, I've used the forum search and checked everywhere else I could think of here, and tried Google and Yahoo as well. I've had no luck in turning up any info on the wheels I will need to put the 52x16" Michelins on my deuce. I'm assuming 20x12" is about right, but I honestly don't...

    Intercooling?

You're right. God forbid someone bring up a topic that has been discussed in the past. We wouldn't want that on a message board. I belong to several forums and if there's one thing I've noticed, it's that certain topics do get brought up a great deal. Something else I've noticed is that no...

    Intercooling?

Just curious if anyone has done this with a MF turbo, or if it is even feasible. In the world of cars and light trucks, intercooling can add a sifnificant amount of power-up to 30% without changing components. I just can't help but be curious what it might do for an LDT-465 (if I could figure...

New Guy trying to get some Info?

We're in America; need is not a requirement of ownership  The only prerequisits are a desire to own and the funds to purchase. I'm also new here and new to the deuce, but my research led me to believe that the deuces with the best combination of features, availability and price are the...

    Running Denver to Reno, empty.

I have a good friend that makes sporadic but somewhat frequent runs from Denver to Reno and back. He is always empty on the way out, usually has some room on the return. He goes north to Laramie then West on I-80. Maximum package size on the way out wold be M1009/CUCV (light trucks). He can...

    Starting Without Hurting

I'm certainly no expert on these multifuel ungines, but what WiillWagner said is pretty much SOP for any dry IC engine prior to start-up. I've built a lot of gasoline engines from 4 cylinder to big block and I either ran the oil pump with a hand drill or did the aforementioned. Since there is...

    Hi all. New member here

Actually, I do have one; What on God's green earth is the round steel plate on the grille for? Everything else on the truck has a purpose, but I can't for the life of me figure that one out :?

    Hi all. New member here

Well, after several attempts to register, I'm finally online. :D Anyway, I just got back from Warner-Robins AFB last thursday with my new baby: Stewart (was written on the hood, now it's his name) is a '66 Kaiser with Hercules LDT-465 and T136-21 T-case. I rode my old Honda Interceptor...
