That could be the problem. If the hub isn't trued up, then the wheel is going to be off no matter what. Great work though, I know my truck has at least 1 riveted wheel and I've had this same thought. It never got further than that though.
I ran into this same problem with mine. I didn't start it for a while when I replaced the clutch parts and rear main seal. When I went to test start it, I got nothing. I'm waiting for it to warm up before working on it again.
As some people have said; I only clutch when starting and up shifts are done without the clutch. On downshifts, I'll double clutch and use the time after I take it out of gear to blip the throttle to match the downshift RPMs.
That seems to be a trend. Put some money into a truck, get it just how you like it, then sell it :p I know there was reasoning behind it, but it's been happening a lot.
That's been the big thing holding me back from redoing my paint. I need to fix a little rust, but I don't have the equipment to do it. That's a good piece of advice to pass on to anyone considering a new paint job though.

If you have a 5-ton with robbed axles; had it ever came up about using axles from an OTR truck? You wouldn't have 6x6, but you'd have a good set of axles, higher gears, 10-bolt hubs and probably better brakes.
To me, it would appear that the Goodyears are the "street" tire of the three; not as good off-road but great street manners. The XML's are the hard core mud tires, not much on the comfort on the street. The XZL's (?) seem to be a good median of the three. That's strictly based on my visual...
