Would it be worth the time and effort to put a DUKW hull on a CCKW ??? Or how about a M-135, making a super DUKW ? ? ?
Or would it be a total PITA and end up with a scabbed togeather outfit ??? Tom
Went down to DMV and licenced my M-819 aircraft recovery wrecker and matching M-270 drop deck trailer. Licenced them for 50,000 lb.s.
I pulled onto the local scale and got a light weight - 47,300 lb. Good greif, all I have room for is a M-274 Mule and a beer cooler :lol...
The last 2 trucks that I purchased out of Barstow were very nice trucks. The paint was still nice, HOWEVER, DRMO or Gov Liq freely took magic markers - ink pens and wrote their information all over the doors.
The CARC paint is very pourous and it is next to impossible to get the markings off...
Robyn, following up on the other gentlemans question, if you are a city or non-profit museum, ect. Is there a part of Govt Liq that handles that type of request for memorials or equipment for educational purposes ? ?
The city south of here aquired a demilled M-60 tank for a town memorial...
Giving credit where credit is due, the crew at Malstrom AFB in Montana was very helpfull, however we did just buy an item that needed to be lifted with a fork lift.
Dave at Barstow has to go, if you are selling trucks, there needs to be at least a loading dock that a dead truck could be drug...
Robyn, I did the titleing on 2 - M-813's that I purchased last fall. In the process I requested a title for a truck that I had purchased 2 years ago, but was denied. They said it was too far back to bother with.
I had purchased 2 - M-812's at the time, got the title on one but I forgot...
I am sure this is a bad question, but when I got the M-813's they were equiped with a nice set of 11:00x20 Michelin radials.
The front end is out of alignment and ate up the two front tires.
If I get the front end alligned, would it hurt to run 2 new NDT 11:00x20's on the front end? ? ...
I get about the same result with when useing a flat khaki paint (Gillespie) or a flat white now in doing my T-15 weasel. The paint comes out rather porous, ( as in, not being able to wipe off a grease stain, ect). vs painting with a semi, or gloss paint.
Is there a hardner or other additive...
We though life was going along good, untill we sprung a leak on the crane.
Where the four large hoses come from the valve bank and go over and attach into the round center pivot point.
On top there is a cap held on with 2 small bolts with an electrical wire going in. It is leaking...
Just brought in an M-819 wrecker. As usuall, I have not read the book yet.
What is the best way to extend or retract the manuel boom on the wrecker? Everyone that ever posted was very happy having the extra boom length of the 819 over the 816.
Thanks, Tom @ Snake River
Still not too sharp on the 800 electrics :? Just brought in an M-819 wrecker, all the lights work except the turn signals. The little green light on the control will come on but not blink, and the L & R turn lights fore and aft will not come on.
Any suggestions? ? , may be the flasher...
After doing a 350 engine swap, I have a good take-out starter, distributor, and air cleaner from the origional motor.
I need to move them, take all for $30.00 + $20.00 shipping. $50.00 puts all on your doorstep. Tom

Fairly soon I will be wanting to sell my mid 70's M-812 Bridge Truck. I am in the process of buying a M-819 wrecker which is more well suited to the work we are doing.
I have owned it for about 4 years when we picked it up from GovLiq from a South Dakota NG Engineering Unit.
The mileage is...
This fall I just brought up 2 M-813A1's out of Barstow, (BTW, what a lazy damned bunch there at GovLiq) :x Now doing the title work and on the darn data plates there are no manufacturer or delivery dates.
I assume that they are late 70's or early 80's.
I bought 2 M-812 bridge trucks 2 years...
