How fast are ya'll driving? At 45 MPH i can get 12mpg. With 9.00's Now that i've got the air shift and front lock outs mabye it will go up. The cat scales put me at #13103 with me and 1/2 tank of fuel. But i think D RAT is trying to extend his range for his move south.
I was thinking more along the lines of a silicone spray, not an oil or grease. Or mabye something to keep the tire from bonding to the rim. I've had to destroy this tire to get the bead off. I've broken down many spilt rims and it shouldn't be this hard.
I'm assuming this would be a modification? Anyway, after spending the last few hours tring to break down a split rim. I've decided to put a silicone lube on the tire beads to help with the next flat. Anybody ever tried this? I know, I usally take mine down to the tire shop also to be...
My dad has been a truck driver for as long as i can rember. Helping him as a kid i rember the lefties. And i know most big trucks still have them to this day. Why? Who knows . Mabye because that's the way they have always done it.
I haven't taken the rear weel bearings off, but i have changed the gasket from the axle shaft to the hub. (gear oil was leaking.) Kenny, If the rear weel bearings ride in grease should there be a seal to stop the gear oil from entering the housing?
Mabye you should try cleaning the pic up screen on the lift pump in the fuel tank. Just pull the pump and clean the screens with some carb cleaner. I'd do a fuel filter job on it too like the gen said. Try the water seperator in the primary filter, i'd be willing to bet you have some water in...
Devin,20 PSI? I can't believe you haven't ended up with a cylinder head in your lap! You must be putting out some serious black smoke!!!! The tree huggers out there have got to be loosing sleep. If that boost guage it correct then i'd guess your at least 1700 Deg. Man good luck!! I swapped to...
H R D If you want it you can have it . Shipping is going to be insane though. It weighs a ton. You can even have the levers from the transmission. I finally swapped it out a couple of weeks ago, and it could use a good home. PM me if you are still interested.
Witch seal do you need ? The pinion seals are the same on all 3 axles. The weel bearing seal is a strange one and i haven't found it in the catalog yet. If it's the pinion seal check the bearings also when they go bad (usally the one at the front of each axle) the seal will leak because of shaft...
While rebuilding my front axle this weekend i mesured the seals in the kit and cross referenced them to commerical part numbers. The inner axle shaft seals are #450074 . you can sub #470074, 480074, 410074. the difference in the metal outside case for the seal. The pinion seals are #430101n...
I went out with a tape mesure and the actual numbers are 3 1/2 dia on the pipe 30" long body and a 8" dia can. Sorry on the pics i don't have a dig camara.
Yea I've got it back together, I did'nt install a locker though. I just replaced bearings, seals. kig pin bushings and spindle bushings. There was no problem with leaving the backing plates on the leaf springs for a week. I'll put a locker in the middle axle when i find a dropside bed.
Yea this nipple is for the deep water fording kit. And it is on the dirty side of the filter. My truck has the deep water fording kit and and i've never had compressor problems. If you plug it it won't hurt a thing. Some of our fire trucks have the crankcase vent at the top of the valve covers...
I went down to the truck parts and got a school bus muffler.Round 3" x 32" long. REALLY QUIET! My wife called it a big bottle of tylenol. No more head aches. I cut the j pipe close to the fender and clamped the muffler there. Then i cut the stack tip and clamped it into the muffler. Then...
This has been a quest of mine for a while. I know my front bumper was replaced so the back is all i have left. I was going to try some 400 grit sand paper by hand but the fire dept that had my truck painted it and i dont see any paint brush marks on the bumpetts, so i'm thinking it was already...
