thanks for the resistor info. the first thing i did was check all the fuses and found the very bottom was blown and replaced it. then i pulled the voltmeter out.
The cut blue wire leads to the large relay(i think its a relay?) that is tied up above the fuse block under the dash. is this the relay for the Black out lights?

Does anyone know a good company to go through for extended brake lines? and has anyone gotten away with the stockers for a bit? or is it too much with a 4" lift? They all seem pricey, but for safety, $1xx isn't bad at all.

RE: Re: Putting a cigarette lighter in a CUCV
I was running the wire to the batt because i wasnt quite sure where to tap into the fuse block and because its is a reliable source for the multiple things i am running on it. i'll just end up putting in an inline fuse. the guy at radioshack said...
I'm doing the same thing. I am going to run a wire from the positive terminal of the front battery back to a stereo, CB, and cigarette lighter and then run a ground back to attach where the negative grounds to the body. I will probably be using an inline fuse (the CB already has one). I am...
OK so i tightened both alternator belts to get rid of the squeaking whenever the glow plug relay popped in the mornings and since then i have not had any startup problems. No complaints from me but these two things shouldn't be related right?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: M1008 electrical question
I've noticed that the lights will dim when the relay clicks, when i install a stereo to the 12v acc source in the fuse box will i notice any volume difference when this happens? and its kinda odd, but when i let the truck sit and idle every morning...
What i'd like to do would be to put trans and coolant temp gauges and a tachometer where the Gen and 4x4 lights are. one way that i thought of is to either go with a civvy dash or keep the original and fill in the light slots with after market gauges like mentioned above, but to also keep the...

LMC Truck has a ton of parts for the truck. it only covers 1/2T and 3/4Ton in the catalog, but for cosmetic stuff and some engine stuff its a good place for parts. most of the trucks back then had same options as far as looks and...

the windshield on my truck does not have any caulk or anything to keep water out, if i push the edge over, i can push the glass forward out from the truck. this isnt a military thing right? i'm either gonna buy some windo caulk and...
I got the pass alternator at NAPA auto parts, they have saved me a few times now trying to find parts for this truck.. The previous owner put a drivers side alternator (no isolated ground) on the pass side so now i have a backup if the drivers side goes bad  The parts number for the...
yeah how do you get it out? i remember looking at it and tugging on it not knowing what it was, but it didnt seem to move at all. does it just pull straight forward? I guess if i had to i could go over to the civy model unit and avoid future problems with the pressure switch?
John
I was told that that is used for better acceleration. it is supposed to kick the transmission to a lower gear when it is depressed so that the engine can get up to speed better. but i could be wrong. You probably haven't noticed any problems without it because the Diesel is slow and...
I tried parking it in the driveway withth efront of the truck downhill and it only died faster upon startup. I might try and replace all the lines near the filter unit. but that pressure thing that was mentioned may be what i need.
John
I had the truck backed up the driveway the whole time I did all the above mentioned, so it was nose downhill. but now its back to nose uphill. if i have problems later tonight or in the morning i will back it up the driveway and let it sit to try what you said.
