As far as I know the Dot 3 and Dot 4 also react with the moisture and become acidic and corrode the hydraulic componets in the brake system. The moisture in the 3 4 systems gets boiled out and works out OK in a vehicle that is used regularly, and The Dot 5 doesn't.
I use the Dot 5 because Mine...
Welcome to the growing bunch in LA! You are very lucky to live so close to Tim as he is a wealth of information and one of the greatest guys you could ever meet. I live in Baton Rouge but, work in Hammond if I can help you PM me.

I did a search or found a link here about a year and half ago and found a suppler of LED bulbs(probably one of those on this thread). I've seen the the LED lights purposely designed and they are really awsome, but I'll try the bulbs first as I would like to make it look the same externally

As you have the time keep us posted. Hope you find a way to get it home without going bankrupt. I'll try to hook up with you when you get back.
I looked through the posts and I like this one to reply to.

The rebuild date with really low hours is probably worse than a one with regular usage as, the engine may have sit idle for a long time. Although the diesel does better, it still will have a problem with sitting for a long time and driven like new.
