    ENGINE INFORMATION PLEASE

The LD/LDT family of engines (2-1/2 ton) are redlined at 2600 rpm. The LDS (5 ton) series of engines are redlined at 2800 rpm. The engines are the same basic design and many parts are interchangeable, but the LDS engines have some different internal components and oil cooled pistons to handle...

    Danger sticker on tach

FACT: The LD/LDT 465 family of engines have a max operating speed of 2600 RPM The LDS 465 family of engines have a max operating speed of 2800 RPM If you don't believe it, look it up in the TMs. That max speed is set by the calibration of the governor in the injection pump. The LDS 465 can...

Bringing my new baby home tomorrow... help!

Re: Boot zipper in or out I don't know if it is proper or not, but I just couldn't get it to tuck in, maybe because I waited for the silicone sealer to set up before I tried. All I know is the sucker has ripped again, with less than one year of use, maybe 2-3K miles. D*** cheap a** Chinese...

    Air pressure gauge questions

I have a NOS old style air pressure gauge that I am using for a mechanical oil pressure gauge. It has been in the truck for about a month. I'd swap gauges with you if you want, only problem is it doesn't go down to zero, the needle stops at about 15 PSI. Other than that it works fine and gives...

I Need A Starter or a Rebuilt Starter

I have two spare engines complete with starters (and alternators, air compressors, pressure plates, clutch discs, flywheels, IPs, hydraulic heads and about everything else). I haven't pulled anything off them yet (except for the pressure plates and clutch discs which are excellent). If you are...

Bringing my new baby home tomorrow... help!

If you see the following, you are not nuts. If you don't see the following, either you ARE nuts, or your front axle is missing it's knuckle boots. NOTE: Your boots may be dirty, greasy, not have a zipper, or any combination of the preceding. However, if they are leaking gobs of grease either a...

    Losing coolant

Re: RE: Coolant leak The SCAs in diesel coolant contain a number of chemicals to improve performance speciifcally for diesel use. Probably the most significant is improved surface wetting capability. The unique vibrations of a diesel can create standing waves which cause air pockets to form on...

    Engine Prelube Info....

Prelubricator Pump Info? I'm trying to come up with a hydraulic pump/motor combo to build a prelubricator system for my Deuce. Please check out my thread in the Deuce forum and weigh in there if you have any thoughts! http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=122346

    Needed: a 24V 1 hp Motor

RE: motor Thanks all for the input. I have checked out the usual sources such as Northern Industrial Tool and Surplus Center, plus the links above, but everything I found was fractional horsepower except for a 1 hp 8000 rpm motor which is too fast. The starter motor concept could work if I can...

    Needed: a 24V 1 hp Motor

I need a 24V 1 hp 3000-3600 RPM motor to build up a prelubrication system for my Deuce. I have searched the web for dozens of hours with no luck. Does anyone have a source for such a motor? I was able to locate an 8000 RPM motor, but that is way too fast to run any hydraulic pump I can find. I...

    tire question

Well, maybe not exactly. I thought the M34 "Eager Beaver" had a narrower bed to match up with the tires?

    Losing coolant

Just make sure your anti freeze is labeled for HD Diesel use. Regular automotive (gasoline engine) anti freeze should not be used; HD Diesel anti freeze has special additives required for Diesel engines which is not included in the regular stuff.

    Injector Cap Woes

Look twice, then measure the thread size on yours! Bjorn also sent me two scrap injectors for a project (thanks Bjorn) but the fittings were two different sizes where they screwed into the cap (which was not important to what I am doing). Yours LOOKS the same thread as Bjorn's, but I'd measure...

    Engine Prelube Info....

Ethan - care to name some commercially available pre lube systems? I've had a hard time finding anything out there. I agree the one on Ebay would be a poor choice. That brand IS available in 24V but they are pretty expensive and only have a 1/4 hp motor. It would eventually fill the system, but...

    Pre-Luber on e-Bay

Eric - Which brand of pre-luber did you buy? Was it the same brand in the Ebay listing? Most marine equipment is available in both 12V and 24V; the ESP unit on Ebay is available in 24V for about $15 more than the 12V model (pump & motor only) but has only about a 1/4 hp motor. By my calculations...

Correct oil to use for a White 'D' Turbo engine

Re: Tractor Supply SAE 30 Standard Non Detergent Oil Go ahead and burn the TS oil whether your FDC is bypassed or not. All the FDC does is adjust fuel flow to maintain the engine's power level by compensating for the energy content of various fuels. If your FDC has been bypassed you will get a...

THIS CLUTCH TOO!!!!!UPDATE see last post

RE: Re: RE: THIS CLUTCH TOO!!!!! I have two near new take out pressure plates and discs. Both pressure plates are 4 finger and both discs are 5 point "star" discs. The disk pucks are not fully glazed over from use, so they are near original thickness. The puck thickness across the disc is...

Correct oil to use for a White 'D' Turbo engine

Alan - I would NOT run non detergent oil in your engine. The LO (Lubrication Order) specifies various weights of single viscosity engine oil depending on ambient temperature; however I also run Rotella 15W-40 year round and I suspect the vast majority of Deuce owners do the same, either Rotella...
