Hi All, My auto transmission fluid level appeares to be over full so I thought I would drain off some of the fluid however whilst inder the truck I can not find a drain plug on the transmission. How does one drain the ATF from the transmission? Truck is a 2004 M1097a2 with overdrive and Park. Thanks

    Throttle sensitivity

Hi all, question about throttle sensitivity on my 2004 Humvee. When driving above 40mph and I hit a bump in the road or pothole my foot bounces and triggers the kickdown in the gear box. As you can imagine this isn't ideal. Is there a way to "desensitise" the throttle? Has anyone had this before...

Thanks, I will take a look at lubricating the levers. What does the missing cross over pipe supply? I will see if I can buy some pipe to fit.

    Heater issues and TM pages

Hi everyone, I'm hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. I have many TMs but I find them difficult to search for specific sections. I have also searched on here but can't find anything. My heater controls are very stiff for the hot cold selector. I also had the dog house open and...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I have charged the batteries as the cold weather here (nothing like you guys in the States) its been below 0°C for over a week and the truck has been in the shade all that time. I tried to fix my temp gauge, it goes up to max after about 2 min of running time but the engine definately isn't hot...

    Water cans on fender?

Do the modern army still use those old style pressed metal jerry can holders from WW2 era??

    top speed

Wow 70mph, I haven't even tried to get my M1097a2 above 50 yet, didn't think they could go much faster, not that I'm looking for a race car, just something to keep up with WW2 Dodge WC51 with BenHur trailer when driving in convoy LOL. I understand the M1097a2 had different gearing and HD axles...

    New WC-51 or 52?

Would say it's a 52 as the chassis rails extend beyond the radiator grill giving room for the winch which the 52s were fitted with.

    WC52 storage compartments

The half covers on 51/52 are pressed steel with a folded section to the real and a dished panel in the middle, they are mounted dished side down so not to hold water. Jerry cans were often mounted onto these either side of drive / passenger. The other part of the front boxes and the rear boxes...

    Cooling issues

Great thread guys, have read with interest. I too have a temp gauge which over reads after about 5 minutes of the engine running so I know the gauge is at fault as the engine could not be at max temp in that short time. When driving the fan does kick in at what I would expect from an engine, and...

    Humvee Run Flat tyres removal

Such a lot of good information here. Thanks everyone. As my tyres are all less the 10 years age barrier I will continue to run the wheel tyre combination as they are and then when I get close to the magic number 10 I will look at the options. I love the look of the 24 bolt splits so want to keep...

    Humvee Run Flat tyres removal

Just checked my tyres and they are dated BF Goodrich 2017 and Goodyear 2016, so they are good for a few year still. Here in UK there is only a time on tyres for commercial vehicles HGV and Buses not for private vehicles. But I will bear this kn mind. Might have to think about my WW2 vehicles...
