Your torque rod DESIGN did not fail you, your lack of torque rod pre trip inspection failed you.
Everything you need to do PRIOR to rolling is in the manual. And the manual was available to you prior to purchase. If you think the mil spec design of the truck requires too much pre trip...
Just got back from hiking the Grand Canyon south rim to north rim and back. I guess I should start getting ready for Dirtbag. Where's the checklist and grease gun?
When is this retirement supposed to get boring?
Not only did my wife's HHR make several trips with no problems, but we tow a civy flatbed trailer with my buddies Sami and other toys and his old pop up camper. Both with no problems. I guess the trick is to drive slow and be careful. Only damage we have ever done is two flats on the deuce...
I had a small scare yesterday and thought I was going to miss out AGAIN. We moved into the new house we bought that I spent all summer remodeling. At some point my insurance renewal info came for the deuce and it got stuck in a to do pile while we were packing. Then that pile got boxed up and...
Ten minutes per hole times three holes equals 30 minutes. What were you doing with that extra five minutes? Sounds like you wasted time you could have used to do some more PMS.
Just wondering if anyone attending will be able to help me with an electronics problem. We are in the process of moving and we sold/gave away/donated a lot of unwanted electronics and computer stuff except some external hard drives. I was hoping that someone attending might have the talent to...
Loco - that's good to hear, thanks for sharing. I've mudded with Delcos but never flooded one. Just looking at the stock alt compared to the delco I replaced it with you can tell the stock alt is beefier and better built. That being said, I would have to fry a lot of these 120 dollar delcos...
Good point. I doubt the Delcos would like being dunked. I guess it's a good thing I have the cheap spare in the back. I'm pretty sure mine won't be getting dunked (on purpose).

I replaced the stock alt with an off the shelf 24 volt (designed for a Cummins I think). Internet cost shipped to my door was less than 120 IIRC. I ordered 2 and have a spare that I will most likely never need in the back. I also added a 12 volt alternator (regular old cheapie delco) to...
I'm not sure what you think might be complex, my 14 year old soldier B did most of the install. As far as robust I have haven't had an issues the whole time it's been on. Very sturdy IMHO. But, if you design something better people will be interested.
When I bought my kit TM AMerica's and...
TM America sells a bracket kit so you can use a cheap, readily available, off the shelf 24 volt unit. Fast shipping, get before and after customer service. Zero problems since I swapped over.
I would like to see a side by side between the mil spec LEDs and the H4 conversion. If the LEDs are better, I would think about swapping. Hopefully someone coming out to DIRTBAG will be running LEDs.
That's a trip you shoulda made yourself. Sounds like they got the best part of that trip. When will you have those tires bolted up to your 818? Post up some pics!
What function did I lose? I can turn on just my park lights, they come on with my headlights and the flash when I need to tell someone I'm turning. What else is there?
