Would you attempt to flee wildfires in your 5 ton?

Evacuating traffic would be a real wild card - could be jam packed or could be wide open. One thing going for me is that my house is between a river and a 4-lane highway so i have a wet line and a dry line on either side but I live in a valley surrounded by fairly steep hills. If i had to...

Would you attempt to flee wildfires in your 5 ton?

I've been trying to game this out in my mind since this year's fire season began and I'm not sure if I would. Historically wild fires have come to within 1/2 mile from my house. Since my wife and I can only drive 2 rigs total, I was going over which vehicles to pack up and take, which vehicles...

    Cab and Body Vibrations

I added about 12" of rubber edging to the rear flange of my hood on both sides where the hood curves down and eliminated most of my vibrations and rattles! What sounded like bad vibrations coming from behind the dash turned out to be the hood rattling against the cowl because of the slop in the...

    Stupidity at its Finest

Thought I'd throw this out there - a multifuel F-600 or F-750 by way of body swap onto a deuce and a half...

What have you done to your 10 ton this week?

Great idea on the thread. Did owning both of those give you the urge to add a Mack NO to the collection? I love these huge prime mover sorta trucks 😁

Spicer 6853-B Alternative to the 6453

Are the two trannies similar enough that only the 3rd gear could be exchanged and keep the others stock?

Need to haul heavy load in central WA; anybody wanting to help?

I drove up to the ski hill last weekend and saw a nice looking M923 or M925 about a mile up Halverson canyon road. I don't know who it is (maybe one of you guys?) but he has a big 6x6...

Are you moving up to an M60A3?

    M800 series lube?

When I finally drain my tranny I'll probably use what Spicer recommends for it. The military wanted a common oil between gear cases & axles but heavy weight GO (gear oil) may not perform as well in the tranny compared to say a 50 wt drivetrain oil.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I put the fuel tank stencil on positioned so I could paint the letters with all one color. The 4-row of text version would have missed the tank strap i think.

New pyrometer & boost gauge pod install

As far as I know. I haven't had the pump apart to see what button is in it and the adjustment screw is still blocked by the metal ball... The only engine mods I've done were the Jake brakes and the dual fuel upgrade.

New pyrometer & boost gauge pod install

I took my truck out for a Sunday drive and got to see how hot it runs. Running empty, steady cruise on flat roads was under 600°F and downhill/idle cooled to about 300°F. Going up moderate hills in 4th at 40mph got the needle up to 1000°F pretty quick and it stopped moving there. Seeing how...

    M125-A1 Cargo Truck Cummins V8 300 Powered

Is this truck sort of a holy grail of 10 tons? Did the PO know what they had? On another note it would look good with a piece of towed Artillery behind it....
