    Got wood?(Deuce hauling)

Dad's out of wood, so off I go to get some. Amish sawmill had bundles for 5 bucks. Bundles are 4-5 foot round, 10-12 foot long, and I thought about 1500 lbs. When I get home and the tractor is struggling to pick them up, I would guess at least 2500 lbs a bundle. So this place is 150 miles...

    M35 to M34(hub flip, single 11-20's)

Finally got the deuce singled with 11-20 NDCC tires. Used a set of rims from the GMC M135 deuce and half. Had the rims shot blasted, then painted with primer and auto paint. I took the paint code to a local paint shop. They were able to use it, but the only in their expensive line. When...

    M108 bead breaker

Thought it was interesting that the M108 crane has down pressure on the boom. Figured I would figure out a way to use it. Have to take tires off rims, and it sounds like a lot of work. So I got a piece of wood, piece of steel, threw the tire up on the crane deck, and volia', a tire bead...

    A/W crane hose replacement

Had plan A for replacing the down boom hose on the M108. Ended up with plan B Plan A was to cut the old, hard to find, fitting from the steel line. Install a new compression fitting with a swivel end on it, then use a standard hydraulic hose. Then I found out the steel line was 1 1/8 O.D...

    Deuce in flood

After driving 500 miles to look at the M108, getting to bed at midnight, having to chase leaks in the roof at 3 in the morning, I get a call at 6 am that Shelby is flooding(my hometown, about 10 miles away). Seems after 2 days of constant rain, the area got hit with 5-9 inches of rain in 6...

    Getting a M108!

Found a M108 wrecker for sale, went a checked it out today. Rough looking, but complete, says it runs, but batteries are missing. Going Friday with Gimpy and deuce to tow it home, about 220 miles away. Got a lot to learn about it, and some things are missing. Not planning to do much to it...

Broke down heading to haspin. Minor problem...

So much for trying to fix what aint' broke. Bottom raditor hose let go, was rubbing in a spot. I replaced the bottom hose a month ago, good thing the old one went in the truck as a spare. At exit 66 on interstate 70, route 54(in ohio). Made it to the fuelmart, so plenty of antifreeze and...

How much are parts trucks worth?

Guy I know has 2 parts trucks, good bodys, been sitting for 10 years or so, missing transmission in one, injector pump in both(I think, been a while since I looked at them), various little parts(gages, glass, door, etc...). How much would they be worth? Dennis

    Repair tach?

The tach has been making some screech nosies, and pegging out. Took it out of the dash to fix it, but wondering how to take it apart. Do I have to cut the band around the glass, and if so, how do I put it back together? I can turn the insert and make the tack work, but it doesn't turn easy...

    Airpack rebuild (add pics-4/09)

Finally got around to looking at the airpack. The pedal would stick going down, then let loose, causing some serious braking. Opened up the airpack, and the air side was half full of brake fluid. Guess I didn't need to lube the airpack after all! Looks like the pushrod seal was leaking. Thanks...

    27,700 lbs Deuce

Not a record, but still a lot of weight. Hauling some crushed limestone for a friend. Truck with 6.7 tons on it weighs 27,700. 27,700-23,550 GVWR puts me at 4150 lbs overweight. Was able to do 50-55 mph, just took a while to get to speed. Brakes worked good. Should have taken a pic of the...

Good Audio file about Multifuel engine

Found this on GL(government liquidation). Decent audio file explaining the Multifuel engine. Mostly stuff you already know about, but a good file for someone that wants to know what a multifuel is. Can I upload this file to Steelsoldiers somewhere? Dennis

    Starting them young!
