Re: RE: Accessory drive seal leaking bad on cummins engine i
Kenny, thanks for the kind words, I Am by no means an expert. I am just a cranky old jackass that has been around a bit. These pigs teach me a lesson every day. WooHoo, 9 more years, I can retire!
Chuck,
Here's some P/N's for the seal, slinger..it is called a seal too in QSOL and BMS...and the wear sleeve.
Seal...3004316.
Slinger..3200287.
Wear Sleeve...190397.
Here are some pics of how to change the wear sleeve, sorry they are blurry.
It doesn't matter if the engine turns while the seal is out or being pulled out. It is only a seal, nothing to do with timing. But, if the complese accessory drive is out, not a good idea to turn the engine, only for the tune up procedure. The seal is in the cover. You can't remove a seal from...
The "F" could just be a manufacturers mark. The fan should go on like in the top pic, the side facing up goes toward the engine. I have seen this a hundred times. The fan will still pull air, just not as it is supposed to or enough CFM across the core. The end result is usually a slow steady...
RE: Accessory drive seal leaking bad on cummins engine in M8
Hold off, i'll get some P/N's for you. I also took some pics to share. I'll post up tonite.

There is an installer for the seal, but you can just use a ball peen. Push it in 'till the outside face of the sael is flush with the housing. Make sure you install the new slinger and the sleeve on the pulley...#70 in the last...
Steve, the suction needs to before the inlet of the w/p. The plug on the side should be correct. The fan will still pull air in the direction yours is in, but not as good. Turn it around and the temp should hug the stat, around 160 to 180.
RE: Re: fuel
DPF, diesel particulate filter,...smoke in...nuthin' but hot air out. Well, supposed to be that way, but there are still issues. In a nutshell, what the above link states.
RE: Re: RE: How mutch oil ???????????
Hey rd69599,
download and READ the manuals on these pigs before you work on or drive them very far. You will enjoy the truck alot better if you do. Don't be afraid to ask though. There are no "dumb" questions.
RE: Accessory drive seal leaking bad on cummins engine in M8
There will be a seal and a flat, rubber coated washer. The seal is pushed into the front cover, and the "washer", or the slinger will go between the gear and the end of the pulley, creating the seal between the shaft/gear and the...
OK, My wife is off the w-ends of Oct. 4 and 18. Those two weekends would be great for me, due to the fact that my lovely bride will be home, therfore, able to do the eagle eye thing on the kids. Sadly, Jacob will not be attending...as of now..due to his really crappy grades in math and summer...
Steve, your fan blade is on backward. You will also have no flow thru the inhibitor you put on, it is plumbed into the pressure side. It needs to have a suction to pull it thru the filter.
Settle down my little evil twin bro! I was just through there yesterday AM and it was 90 deg. at 0930...still too hot. I did scope out the Hodge Road shooting area. We can shoot there with no problems. I'll check my wifes schedule tonite and throw out a couple of dates. I haven't seen Tyler here...
I used to not believe in additives. Cummins has an issue with Bosch injectors in the '07 and above 6.7 L B series engines in Automotive applications, like tow trucks and yard goats...that's the only vehicles we have seen problems in. After 4 SETS...24 new injectors, there was a Ford F650 roll...
