I forgot to write about the brake upgrades yesterday. After my trip to the mountains I installed some performance front brake pads. Hawk Performance HPS to be exact. They are expensive:

But, they work amazingly...
The Cowdog pulled the 6BT M715 we have been working on for Sermis the last decade or more out of my class last Friday. Then, Saturday I drove it to his place 90 miles away. This is the heaviest load I have ever had on my trailer and the Cowdog. His engine is about 600 pounds more than the 6.2...
95° is what the sensor on the passenger rear head for the green wire goes off of.
The glow plug sensor inside the valley on the drivers head is somewhere around 160° to 170° for that system.
There are actually 2 green wires at the IP. The wire to the fast idle solenoid on the drivers...
Agree. The shut off solenoid is easy to do once you pull the top cover. I had a newly rebuilt pump not turn off the first time I started the engine with it. The pliers turned it off and stayed in the truck for a week until the new solenoid showed up.
Keith explained the IP side. The truck wiring side is a bunch of could be things.
It could be the actual ignition switch which is down at the bottom of the steering column is a bit out of adjustment in relation to the rod that comes from the keyed ignition cylinder.
It could be one of your...
You just need a long slotted tip screwdriver to adjust the idle. The screw is under the fast idle solenoid. Shine a light in there and you should see it.
Pull the pink wire from the IP with it running. If it shuts off immediately then the problem is on the truck wiring side. If it delays then the problem is inside the IP.
Central Texas is a pretty big area. Where are you exactly? A dozen or more of us here on this website are members of the Lone Star MVPA in Austin. There are times when there are more than one event per weekend. Very active group of enthusiast.
That will be interesting. A helpful hint is that since Kaiser was making the M38A1 almost right up to production of the M715. There is a huge amount of M38A1 body parts, wires and such on the M715. If you don't have something look at M38A1 parts for it.
That makes sense about the advance arm to throttle shaft linkage roller needing lubrication.
I drove one of my M1009’s today for the first time in a few months. I have had it for 12 years. When I first got it running it would barely idle. It would die when the fast idle turned off and...
I think the ambulance seats are different. At least they feel different when I have sat in a M1010. Only the TM can tell us for sure. I do have some M1009 seats, but they aren't in the best of shape.
Scott, I knew I would get that exact argument when I wrote that yesterday. I should have stopped there and deleted it. You are correct about both transmissions when they are used as intended and maintained.
Sorry, but if you can make it stall while playing with the throttle. That points to an IP needing attention. I had one like that too. Very frustrating but the IP is a wear item and you have no clue when it was last replaced if ever.
Well, here is the thread about my 3/4 Suburban. It is loooooonnnnnnnnggggggggggg. I go through which transmission in great detail. Along with turbo stuff, engine swaps, pretty much the entire thing:

I have...
He almost got me for the TCC switch and wiring harness but I wanted to do the test to see if it would even work. He gave me the part number in case I decided I wanted it later.
Now I have to do another story. I ran waste motor oil, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid, etc.... Basically, anything but diesel in my truck for years. It grew to have a pretty dark cloud hovering over it sometimes. The odd mixture of fuel also had its own special aroma when burned too. I...
