Whilst swapping out a rear axle assy, I found out that stubborned ubolts that won't back off with my best 1/2" impact, were no match whatsoever for the 1" impact.
The low power 6.2 isn't going to be particulary happy having to work that hard. That swap would not be on my radar. The truck would suffer everywhere else. You coukd achieve similar results with a 700R4 and even gain a deeper 1st gear. Overdive would likely only be a downhill or with the wind gear.
Everything at GL should be considered scrap. Always save auction pics. Pics you take will likely not matter to them unless you get th he GL rep in the picture as well.
Joe, do you have any more of those kits? Google netted nothing.Reference the alternators, both CUCV alternators are identical. It's their position on the truck that dictates the need for the isolated ground. Both have stud for STE/ICE equipment but only the drivers side uses it.
I use a product from Loctite. PL S30. It's a roof and flashing sealer and it works wonderfully. Paintable as well. It works wonders on roof seam on ambulances, shelters, RVs and more
Get a no contact infra red temp gun. let it run and start scanning the area of the exhaust manifold at each exhaust port. Find the cold one and start there.
Since it's a no cost option, wedge them on there and check it out for yourself. I run BFG Mud Terrains (255/85R16) on my ambulance and I'm going to switch over all of my CUCVs to them. They aren't cheap and I'm fretting buying 12 more but they are that nice!
It's showing up at more and more gas stations. There is a Valero (I think) right on Murphy Hwy in Blairsville that sells it. Not that you want to drive there, just to illustrate that it's becoming more prevalent as folks learn of it's existence.
Not necessarliy. Rec90 is readily available and it's an ethanol free fuel. Despite the fact that ethanol costs more to produce, government subsidies keep the price of pickled (ethanol) fuel lower than the Rec90. With that said, how much will the ole girl get driven? I keep Rec90 at the house...
What are the symptoms? How long does it take to start the truck when hot? Cold? Need more info. If it's leaking down fuel and you are leaning on it for 4 or 5 minutes, things are going to get hot. Chickens fry, starters fail. Was the last failed starter diagnosed?
I just purchased an SM465 and 205 case for one of my trucks. I'm about 75% done with parts gathering. 2002ford has an 88-91 crew cab with a 6.2 and SM and reports that it's a world of difference going to the 4 speed. The 1.96 to 1 low won't be so bad with the low first of the 465.
