Goggle theUK units back up and check the freq chart and one of the US freq charts, that would tell you pretty fast. Ours is in the 27mhz band.

When did the shed appear? There is usually a grandfathers clause on permits for sheds like this, usually 2-3 years. Also, I don't know what your city ordinances are, but mine state that anything worth LESS...
Doesn't matter how it is mounted unless the instructions mention otheriwse. Just keep in mind that it would be nice to see the controls and channel markers. I've see them mounted upside down, rightside up, vertical, and horizontal.
Not the same at all, Marine band is FM-band and CBs are AM-band. Do not get caught using the marine bands on land (unless licensed for), otherwise the FCC, USCG, and homeland security will come knocking at your door.
Might want to check on the condition of the original nuts that hold the spindle on. The ones that they sell now as a replacement looked cheesy to me, not near enough big around for me. I Red locktited my old ones in place and never had a problem.
