IMO modernizing the multi is just not worth it. The main limiting factor would be simply of its age. It was never designed to be a high output engine. If you want a modern engine just use a cummins 5.9. They will run on WVO ( If heated properly), WMO, ATF; just takes some filtering. Don't mean...
It wouldn't take much effort to insulate the cab. It was 115 today here in Phoenix and if i had a deuce I would defiantly look into a AC solution. Rolling down the windows doesn't work here in Arizona. Basically turns your truck into a convection oven. But we can tough (sweat) it out.
So i was searching about the M920 in general and came across this article about Sonni's costume M920. Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm pretty sure it hasn't.

Some states just go by the axel weight rating. Which makes a lot more sense. Thats how Hotshot drivers are able to pull 20,000+ lbs with their 1 ton dually.
I know another user on here used something like this on his bobbed deuce. I think Mud guppy or something close to that is his name.

Also high HP diesel engines where not around in the 1950's. Big rigs in the 1950's only had about 250hp as well. The technology just did not exist. Back then they reallied on gearing to get moving.
Even with that it comes down to gear ratio's, over drive, and RPM. Unless the LDS revs over 3000 rpm it is mathematically impossible to drive a stock deuce at 63mph.
