    So the MTVR adventure begins

So I found the issue with the coolant in oil. The coolant heater I installed is too long and damaged the cooler core, allowing coolant to pass. This is going to cost a few thousand for a new cooler and hours of time. Not pleased. At least the truck hasn't been started since I put in the heater...

Any interest on a deep dive into Cat C12 oil systems? Specifically into Oil Pressure?

Just ran across this in the CAT troubleshooting manual.

Makes me wonder why the truck has two oil coolers? Guess the CAT on on the block wasn't enough so they added the additional one in the radiator? Actually...the radiator one may(probably is) a transmission fluid cooler.

Oh yeah I'm for sure on the side of replacing every seal I touch when doing stuff like this. Hoping for a seal, but could very well be the heat exchanger itself...pricey.

So I think I got really lucky. No evidence of coolant ever reached the motor. Seems like something failed after I parked it and I just decided to change the oil at the right time. Pressurizing the coolant results in a steady drip of coolant out the oil filter base (it was dripping all night...

@IridiumRed Thanks so much for all the info, gives me some great resources to reference.

    So the MTVR adventure begins

I'm going to pick up a coolant pressure tester today, along with a gas byproduct tester. I've barely driven the truck - only a few miles since unloading. Coolant went down a lot from when it was delivered so this seems like a new and rapid leak. I did drain the crankcase - absolutely no...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Used some choice words when I took off the oil filter and bright green coolant spilled out. Truck has been great and then I find this. I've done previous research on the c12 and am aware of some weaknesses from overheating and cracking heads. Maybe a liner is cracked, maybe the block is...

Productive day today since it warmed up to the 50s! Primary and secondary fuel filters changed. Hand primer seems to have an issue though, seems the check valve isn't working as I can see it push the fuel but then suck it back with each pump. Will pick up a new one tomorrow. Transfer case fluid...

Got the right leg all modified. I will be using spacers for both left and right, although right I shortened the rear mounts as if spaced out they would hit the exhaust heat shield. This is a left side leg cut up and rewelded to make it into a right. Got a new package in the mail

Sure would be nice if the government let us have the manuals to the trucks we paid for (twice).

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Well dang it, found out there are at least two rear turret strut versions. These are apparently made to fit with spacers on non armored cabs or without on armored. Made some measurements and ordered aluminum spacers ..will update with sizes after verification. Also found out the right rear...

Painted the turret supports with the Rapco paint, nice guy. Thought the block heater would be easy but that 1"npt plug was not cooperating. Had to take off the doghouse...which also fought me with rivnuts that spun. Applying wedging pressure to the straps allowed the bolts to come out. Some I...

Poking around and trying to figure out the truck a bit more. This black thing is the flasher module. This silver thing under the driver dash is the 12 v converter. It's not sealed and obvious water had gotten in. Lots of crud on it so took it apart and cleaned it up.

LED reverse light. Found a great replacement for $11 at Harbor Freight

Fits perfectly in the stock location, is IP67, 12/24 V, mount width and through hole match the bracket on the truck. I took apart the connector on my old light and soldered the wires in so it plug into the truck harness just like the original...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Got my seat working again - raise and lower switch had been taken for some reason. Pretty sure this is a standardized part. Also replaced the ether line and fittings since they had been kinked and now the entire ether system is brand new. Replaced my reverse light with one from Harbor...
