Ditto on the above posts. Also, preview what you buy if at all possible. Be mechanically inclined. Like everybody else said, be patient and have nerves of steel if you want to buy from GL. Having said that, my experience with GL has been very methodical and rewarding. Both of my trucks run...
Well guys, no worries, and still a thanks to both of you, I pulled the tank out hours ago; removed all the connections no prob; I had the rubber within rubber connectors, if you will. Tank came out just fine. My MAJOR worry now is that the bottom of the tank is like, lined with an ugly dose of...
Removing the fuel tank from my Deuce this afternoon......does anyone know if the rubber connector to the in tank fuel pump just comes off with a little prying? Talking about the electrical connector on top of the fuel tank, attached to the electric pump here.....
I guarantee you, in the Gulf environment you will have to coat it. I pulled the drain plug with the thing about half full, and Oh, what a mistake! Ended up using a jiggle siphon to drain it and flakes of crud came out. I'm going to end up paying about $350.00 here in El Piso to vat it and...
It picks up little military cargo boxes and moves them to and fro....in the military mind, you can also put one on the back and take it with you.. Seen this bs at Kirtland.....a long time ago
I'm in the middle of the same thing....Fuel tank all crusty, don't know the condition of the fuel pump yet; just getting the fuel out of the tank gave me a Baptism in diesel; oh! what fun....
littlebob....great pic...that's why I consider myself lucky. But then again, I know fuel, propane, propane accessories, King of the Hill type stuff.....I knew I could probably do it. but I'm still dropping the tank to make sure.
You can't leave. I bought two. You already gave me the vin number on my first truck, and (drum roll, please) it was MORE ACCURATE than the data plate. SF97 in progress now, and all is well. Donation sent. Over and out for now....until I get to my second truck in south Texas. In reality...
I don't know is this helps but if needed you can drop it in El Paso at my place......I have a bobcat that can easily load/unload that thing with forks. For what its worth.
I was lucky. Purchased a truck at Fort Sam and then went through everything as far as gears are concerned and then drove it 571 miles home. I had noticed that there was crud floating in the fuel tank, but just decided to add diesel and alot of TCW-3 2 cycle oil from Wal Mart. It worked and I...
I'm going through the same thing....Am pulling the tank out; having it vatted for $90.00 just to get it clean; then I plan on using KBS products to coat it myself. I looked at Red-Kote today; you should be just fine with them....according to their website, they've been in business a long time.
OK guys; this is what I needed. Thanks very much for the input on this. Leaning toward KBS after reading all of this. Will report back after the event. Over......
Anybody tried any fuel tank sealers with results they would care to share? I'm thinking seriously about a product from KBS coatings. I called them today and they say their sealant is impervious to everything including methanol, and more importantly biodiesel. There is simply too much crud...
No, no no, All GL-5 Gear oils are NOT compatible with your Deuce. It must be rated MT-1 on the bottle, or else you risk problems. I order NAPA part number 65205; it is GL-1 rated and was designed for your truck. Get the big pumper and and at least 1 five gallon pail of this stuff and you'll...
Allright, well, I pulled myself up by bootstraps. Southwest seal has a seal coming tomorrow, but in the meantime, I used two 5/16 inside diameter o rings, but sanded down the second one on a grinder stuck on the end of a bic pen to reduce it's diameter, and so far it held. All is well; I post...
