One friend of mine has done this, he loves it,his truck will go anywhere, very hilly where we live, and he has no problems.

The rear u-joint on my 1009 was making a squeak, took out the drive shaft, the u-joints were original from GM, they failed at 177000 miles, pretty good part, they were sealed joints, only one cap was shot.

ATF is OK, but two stroke oil is better, do a search and you will find lots of info.
