beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I think they sometimes choose items for the HOT LOTS just to drum up more bidders and thereby increasing the closing price. I have seen this plenty of times where, say, there are two M817s at once site. One looks better and the descriptions says RUNS. The one that looks worse and is marked as...

    M109a4

...also, back up lights, side markers and rear marker lights, electric wiper motor upgrade, three point seat belts, Allison auto tranny. Significant improvements in my opinion, but they cost 2x as much.

    rats........ broke my j-pipe

There are some parts on these trucks that are getting harder and harder to find...and a good J pipe is one of them. They are almost non-existent in NOS form. Unless someone starts to fabricate them, this is a part that will be tough to find in the coming years...at least in my opinion. I know...

    M925A2 Delco Style Alternator

I was just going to ask what it cost! Thanks for the info. A new 60 amp alternator runs around $300 (I just bought one NIB). So, this conversion saves you about half, slightly less when you factor your time in. Good deal! I have a bunch of either new or rebuilt alternators that WILL NOT put...

Will CUCVs continue to appreciate in value?

Cherry CUCVs will appreciate. Your run of the mill truck will not, IMHO. Clean examples of most vehicles increase in value as fewer can be found.

    1500 mile recovery

Good luck with your trip home. You will definitely like the extra speed you'll get out of the super singles! The truck looks great!

Just missed M.A.N M1001, aw shucks

Howard, two things...first, my parents have a farm in Cherry Valley, NY! What are the odds! Second, my friend in FL has the option of screening trucks out and TURNED THESE TRUCKS DOWN because they were not in very nice shape...missing stuff, rust, etc. He had someone inspect and lay his hands...

    M275 made it home!

I almost feel like I was involved as Ron called me about the filters, too! He and I talked for about 30 minutes about your filter issue. Not sure if you used my advice, but I suggested removing the primary filter if you absolutely had to do so (assuming that this would be the filter that...

M342a2 factory dump truck is now home

I want a nice M342A2 badly...but have never found exactly what I want. That truck is beautiful. Contact TNJ Murray (they advertise on this site). John Murray told me a year or so back that they had tailgates, cab protectors, etc.

M923 with new shirt and shoes

Nice looking truck! I had an M939 series truck that really had a hardshift from 2 down to 1. All it was was a spring inside the tranmission. According to Allison...and I don't recall which spring was which...they swap the spring and that controls how hard the transmission shifts (different...

    M915A1 VIN location on frame?

Thank you, my friend! I appreciate it!

    M915A1 VIN location on frame?

Does anyone know if the VIN is located on an M915A1 other than the data plate? A friend just got a truck out of OH and it is missing the data plate. I assume the VIN is stamped on the frame some place. Does anyone know where? Thanks!

    M52A2 recovery from Ft Jackson

I love the M172A1s...too bad they are overwidth. Too much hassle using them with the required permits for my taste.

    M985 Recovery and Restoration

Well...(thinking about witty comeback)...OK, I don't have a comeback. I just wish I had three HEMTTs (or variants before anyone tells me that a PLS is not a HEMTT). Congrats, Dave.

Ripped off by Fast Track Logisitics.

I mainly deal with the same broker that I have dealt with previously. That particular broker HAS contacted me with a lower rate once they weighed the item. On the rare occasions that I go with someone I don't know, I usually try to guess a bit high so I am not surprised in the end.

Ripped off by Fast Track Logisitics.

How would that work? They based the quote on the weight provided by GL. The shipping company is not liable for that incorrect information. I NEVER use the GL weight estimate unless it makes sense to me. Even then, if I am uncertain, I will estimate a higher weight and I know the price could...

Ripped off by Fast Track Logisitics.

I am not commenting on the price, but I think this transaction worked the way every other shipping transaction has worked for me. You provided them a weight from the GL website. They based their original shipping quote on that weight (they are not responsible for the information provided by...

    M985 Recovery and Restoration

I might have miscounted, but I think this is his third...PLS, M985, and M984. If so, WOW and where did you get the money!

    M923 wipers

I agree with BOLKBICH. In all of the many M939 series trucks that I've owned or sat in, I have never seen any wipers other than the air wipers. The air wipers in the M939 series trucks are head and shoulders better than the junk in a deuce. I have only had to replace one in over a decade...
