Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

"scrapyard M-211" I should have also mentioned in the previous pictures, that this unit had all the indications of being a pole setting unit. Like the power companies use to set power poles today, except in 1955, it was a much harder task compared with today's equipment. AND, since I said that...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

M211 salvage I thought I had lost these pictures, seems I had forgotten I backed them up. These were taken of the "scrap yard M211 " and wish I had gotten the last 20% or so of the truck. Sad part is, I missed on two trucks two years earlier, in the same salvage yard, because I didn't have...

    The unofficial g749 picture thread

Man, that looks sweet! All there, and very straight looking. As for the American reg #'s, that's a mystery. The door number is Canadian, because my very first M135 had a 84 something on it, so that looks authentic, but maybe the reg number is not "real"? Does it match any numbers in the truck...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

Yoke question I took a look, and yes, someone soldered the end cap to stop a leak. Not a big issue, easy to fix. Can anyone tell me what the number of trucks produced was for the M135, and M211? I am curious to know. Thanks in advance.

I saw that too when I removed the "u" joint from the yoke, but it looks like solder. I'm going to check tonight when I get crackin'...Must have had a leak there before, and soldered it up. I'll take a pic and post later.

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

Engine test stand I will do that today. Never thought of it at the time or I would have done so. One thing I did as I was putting it all together, I placed the complete engine/ trans assembly in the stand, and then welded the rear mounts in place. Made for easy assembly. Again, I didn't...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

Engine test stand Please forgive the rough sketches, and I didn't include any wheels, you all have different needs for that, and would put whatever you have. NOTE... IF you want to be able to remove the oil pan(s) add about 6" more to the uprights to get them off. BUT... you will need to put...

Engine/trans test stand material and measurments. Ok, no problem. All material is stuff I picked up from local scrapyard. I will post this info tonight, and will also be adding a video on the latest 1955 M135, (on picture thread). I keep meaning to ask this, but forget to, so since I am at it...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

If anyone needs the dimentions for the stand, let me know, I'll gladly draw it it and show it here. When I started it and then revved it up, it never moved at all. Nice and solid. The farthest you could tear the engine down is the top of the block only, at the current height the oil pan is above...

1954 M135 engine-transmission and test stand. https://youtu.be/cjG-toWyK-g If this video works,it's about the 1954 M135 engine and transmission I took out of my first M135. Also, the video will show the test stand I built so I can run everything and store/move all in one piece.

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

I have been wanting to ask, what is the difference between a M211, and a XM211? Is there such a thing as a XM135?

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

I know,,,,you see one, and first thing you have four looking at you. (well,,3 and a half), but I was after this truck for at least 15 years, and the time I first talked to him, wasn't that pleasant an experience. So when I was told he was selling, I rememberd the last time we spoke, and said"ok...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

WELL,,,,,,for now it's ok, but I want it to look like a true military vehicle, not like it was stolen from the museum. I have my work cut out for me there, I'll be sanding for YEARS....And no, that's the way she looks, nothing special from me, just used my phone to capture the moment. But the...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

You will need the original, or as close to the same G.P.M. the pump you are going to install on your project truck.I have done this before, when asked on how to "reboost" an old case loader.I ditched the vaccume setup, put a hydroboost from a 2000 chevy astro.Guy just loves it.It installed very...

Metal Magnets's M211 teardown and future rebuild.

Issues will show on the video I will take of it soon. The engine is missing on one or more cylinders, back window was removed and plexiglassed, lights don't work, etc, but looks like it was generally maintained with some skill.Seeing the chains on it made me very nervous, they have a terrible...

Newest addition to the collection.a 1955 M135 This is the latest, and most certainly, not the last addition to the collection. A 1955 CDN M135. Needs work, but hey, this is the first one I have gotten with workable brakes!

Well, somebody goofed when they ripped the wiring out. It's steel, no copper in those trucks execept the heater, rad, and air lines.I found that out quick. Was some surprised too.The trouble with the wiring is if it's exposed, it shreds the insulation very easily, so handle the wiring...
