Hey guy I think I have a head gasket blow out... what do you think

There will be a lot of crud falling into the block when those heads come off. If you have good oil you wish to save, drain it and set it aside in a covered bucket. Same goes for coolant. Personally, I would used the old oil and pure water to run up and flush the engine after the job was done...

    Maxspeed3's Deuce Build Thread

Okay... how I missed this thread for a week is anyone's guess. What sand are you using? +100 on the phosphoric acid. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Klean-Strip-1-gal-Phosphoric-Prep-and-Etch-GKPA30220/100406369 I can't wait for pics and vids!

    Behr rep contact info

I have been buying the "Oops" mistake paint at my local HD... I lucked out and got some Behr Premium Plus Ultra and was able to have it retinted to a color I can use. But that Marquee series looks good from a dirt and water shedding standpoint. Keep us posted with what you ask and what he...

Now if we could just find the magical source for those tubes at a decent price...

    tire tubes

Some have used 1100s, but most recommend 1400 IIRC.

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

I use a $1 Home Depot spraybottle to apply it. As for neutralization, simply put... I don't. If the metal has to sit bare for a day or so, I leave the residue in place. Before I put primer or paint on, I rinse it off with a bit of soap and water. The stuff I painted/treated this way last year...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

Started in on the truck with the needle scaler. Got one bedside started by using the truck as the air compressor. She was running great and I checked the guages every few minutes out of paranoia. Imagine my shock when after sitting at 180 for over half an hour, I checked it and it was up to...

How do you paint your Deuce?

Behr Premium Plus Ultra is rated for direct-to-metal application and has rust inhibitors. "Regular" Behr laid over a rust inhibiting primer is another option if rust protection beyond air and water exclusion is desired.

    6 year old gasoline...

No joy. The deal is still in limbo. The facility that owns all of this may demand a licensed "disposal" of the fuel... and they have enough money to actually pay someone to haul it away as "contaminated waste." Basically, if no bean counter feels like dealing with it. I can still get it.

    Behr rep contact info

So, I debated putting this in the Behr paint threads, but decided it deserved a thread all on it's own. With any luck Jacob, the west Michigan Behr/Kilz/Masco rep will chime in. (I showed him the site and he was stunned how we were using his products.) First off, here is his contact...

    Brake Bleeding

If you know anyone with a logging company, large farm, or excavating co. they would have a lowboy. You might also call the local John Deere dealership and find out who hauls tractors for them. Just trying to think of something cheaper than a big rig towtruck.

    Brake Bleeding

You aren't going to find anyone here recommending you drive a deuce with known brake issues. Find someone with a towbar. That having been said, and knowing people refuse to accept advice that costs money in most cases, you will need at least a 1/2 gallon of DOT5... not 5.1... not 3... DOT 5...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

I have also been looking for options for the weatherstripping. Like many others, all the rubber in my truck is either missing, or half eaten junk. I have found a product at Home Depot that is used as garage door weatherstrip. It's not a perfect match, but I think it can be trimmed to be a...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

Updates: Muffler is installed and I left the pipe long. Looks good and the combination of muffler and higher outlet have drastically reduced the in-cab noise. The governor housing (back cover of the pump) was loose.... as in so loose it almost fell off. Tightened and safety wired it...

CARC paint;how to remove-yet another question...

I'll have a video up shortly. I tested the Harbor Freight polycarbide grinder wheels. Wow. Simply, wow. I'm going to use a 3 step process. 1. Needle scaler for the flaking paint and tight corners with thick layers. Tested and it works well... but only on the flaking/peeling stuff. 2...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

None. Don't screw with it. The LDS was set at the same 20deg as the LDT. Only the LDS-2 had a paltry +2deg. As for messing with the advance/gov springs... I would only do that if you have it done by a shop with a test bench. This is NOT a simple task. Just get a pyro and turn it up a little...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

If the increase in the load on the smaller head was so inconsequential, why go through the expense of the larger one? I suppose changing the smoke cam angle to the LDS 100deg from the factory LDT 75deg would be the other side of that coin. I'm certain you are correct, and the increase is...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

The best difference I have found... and it is significant. TM 9-2910-226-34 lists the output specs for the injection pump during test-stand certification. At 2800 rpm the LDS-465-2 (A code pump) flows between 47-50cc at 2800rpm and the governor cuts fuel to below 5cc at 3150rpm. The...

Lower clearance with tire pressure? M35A2

You are correct sir! (in my best Johnny Carson Show voice) Not going to narrow this down to specific people, but if I was the agent and ever received a theft or damage claim, the first thing I'm doing is a search for their names and screen-names to find out what they were up to.
