When installing studs I double nut the stud ( tighten nuts together) then use the top nut to tighten the stud to torque for the stud ( use lock-tite like gimpy said ) , then use 2 wrenchs on the nuts to break the nuts free from each other and remove nuts .
Blazer standard parts for the M1009 . The custom parts seals are for seals with chrome trim . M1009's are the most basic stripped down plain parts GM had to offer.
Have you inspected the shoes ? Once they get to a certain point , you over expand the wheel cylinders . More information on what has been checked and what has not been check , will help us to help you.

I would be worried about cracking between the bolt holes , alot of stress transfering there. I have never seen a ball than didn't hace some movement to the coupler.

There is a good chance he loaded it on the lower deck ,then moved the ramps to the upper deck . Then back both axles on the upper deck , removed ramps and pulled forward to get the height down .
