I agree. But I do not have much of a shop and I do not have all the tools as indicated in the TMs. I have rebuilt gas engines before but never a diesel although it does appear to be almost identical save the ignition and governor.
You know I swore that I would never do a half job again on engines some time ago. I recently made and exception on my 95 Ford F150 and did the lower bearings while the tranny was out but the engine still in the vehicle. But I was told less than a year before that, that the upper was in great...
No. Can't be done as it will not fit into the valve push rod tube. I am not even sure I can test the lifter. It looks hydraulic to me but I can not push down on the internal spring to pump the lifter. Maybe I am just not putting enough umph onto the rod.
Probably. The push rod is fine. Just a little buffed around where the rocker arm was kind of holding it in place. There is really no other damage than consmetic to the push rod.
I just spoke with a guy that said he had tons of used push rods and is selling new rocker arms for $12. Hopefully I can get the push rod for about $3.....
Still looking for any from members willing to part with them.
That is whay I am debating taking off the head. I've got the gasket set and it would give me a chance to verify the everything is OK. If I can find a proper adapter, I can use my compression gauge to answer all these questions.... A simple compression test will tell me if I need to remove the...
Got to find one though. I found a new rocker arm for about $12 compared to the $196 that GMG wants.n And lets not forget that $40 pushrod.
Sent a PM to a member for a rocker arm and push rod but I am in the market for both pieces.
The push rod is there, I just removed it for the pick. But the puuer part of the push rod is worn considerably. I wonder if these are standard units or specific to this machine?
Thanks. I just ordered enough to take care of most of the bolts and nuts on the cabinet. Jeesh stainless steel is expensive...
But thanks for the research and where to get them.
Thanks Daybreak....
I just noticed that on the next to the last video, 190219, there was the oil pressure fault light but the oil pressure was still reading about 25 psi. Wonder if the engine had started to recover by the time I got around to the panel side.
Lookie lookie what I found.......
Got to tell you, I am pretty peeved at the rebuilder/seller. No end cover gasket, no valve cover gaskets (4), no exhaust manifold gasket, no new air filter, damaged intake manifold gaskets, 4 valve cover nut gaskets are busted, the crankcase cover gasket...
