One piece Steel cargo Bows with formed corners ??

Yes! Interested! Don't break that up for the bows, sell it to me! Is it HEMTT or Mk-48? Or are they the same? edit: I looked up the NSN number (I'm assuming the 'R' in 2540-R1-539-3903 is supposed to be a '0') and it comes up as for a FMTV 5-ton... The NSN for the M977 series HEMTT cargo...

    TornadoGT's M977 "Name TBD" Mods

I think it's just that the engine is so high above the fuel tank, and there is a lot of feet of fuel line from the tank to the engine. Most diesel engines that don't have an electric fuel pump are hard to start if you get air in them... I don't think the Detroit is worse than any other would be...

    TornadoGT's M977 "Name TBD" Mods

I think you will find it very difficult, if not impossible, to get the engine started without a priming pump of some sort. Wreckerman's experience with HEMTTs was that they pressurized the fuel tank to bleed the air out.... and with the filter-separator open, air is probably all the way up to...

    1,680 mile HEMTT recovery

Gulfway called back this morning, apparently someone reviewed my application from the previous day and had a change of heart... So that's good. One more thing to check off the to-do list! Jon

    Issues with SF-97

Not me... I already bought another EUC item! At least this one is local, so there is no elaborate preparations. Whenever it clears, I'll go get it. Jon

    1,680 mile HEMTT recovery

I'm striking out so far. I've tried Condon Skelly, J.C. Taylor, Hagerty, Gulfway, Geico, and I'm waiting to hear back from Chubb. Next on the list is AAA, then maybe a local commercial truck agent... I don't think I can qualify it as a farm vehicle. The reasons for denial have been, "We...

    1,680 mile HEMTT recovery

If everything goes smoothly, that sounds like fun... I'd like to see your M932 conversion too. Jeff at WTF picking up my tires for me really helps free up the schedule! Jon

M197 Dolly Converter Landing Gear Foot

I ended up ordering the landing gear shoe pictured below, off eBay for $39 shipped. It's supposedly from a M348 trailer and I don't think it's a direct fit, but it looks about right and it's the proper dimensions except for the I.D. of the pipe piece. I'll adapt it and make it fit... Jon

    Issues with SF-97

Yeah, it's strange. I assumed that mine would either clear after yours, since my sale was 3 weeks after yours, or about the same time, since our submission dates were both 12/2. I was also surprised that mine cleared on a Friday. I think yours will be this week! Jon

    1,680 mile HEMTT recovery

Well, the EUC finally cleared and the HEMTT recovery trip will be next week! I have a pickup appointment at 0800 hours next Tuesday, 2/9/16. We'll be heading out from CA two days before that, on Sunday the 7th. I've scheduled the time off at work and I've got a full-size rental van reserved...

Hemit thinking about getting one need info

Red line on the engine, 2100 rpm, equals 57 mph. So 55 is about the max. I've read a lot of posts on here about HEMTTs going 70+... Either the speedometer is in error, or the governor has been tampered with and the engine is being over-revved. I think this over-revving of the engine is one...

    M977 HEMTT Acquisition

There's only about ~140 in private hands, spread out across the country... Unless you get lucky to find someone near you, you're probably going to spend a day driving to see one. Jon

    HEMTT PCV setup

Congratulations by the way... My EUC cleared yesterday, so my HEMTT recovery trip is coming up next week! Jon

    HEMTT PCV setup

Those are just "road draft tubes", or crankcase vents if you prefer. They are supposed to be open, one hose to each valve cover. You should never really see anything coming out of them... Even a clapped out old Detroit will not generally show blowby there. The reason is that if combustion...

    Issues with SF-97

Mine cleared yesterday! :naner: Sale date was 10/21, paid and EUC filled the next day. Considering that it wasn't sent to Battle Creek until 12/2, it didn't take as long as I predicted... Battle Creek took 8 weeks, GovPlanet 6 weeks. Now I'm excited to go GET MY HEMTT!!! Jon

M197 Dolly Converter Landing Gear Foot

Hey Group, Can someone post a good picture or two of the swiveling landing gear foot on an M197 dolly converter, and maybe some dimensions? Length or diameter (I've seen round ones), and how thick is the metal? My landing gear foot is missing and I've given up hope of finding an original, I'd...

    Issues with SF-97

I think payment should be due within 3 business days of the EUC clearing. Withholding $$$ is the only way to get the government off it's lazy butt! Jon

    Issues with SF-97

Yup... 8 business days after the EUC clears it is supposed to be picked up. But I think there is some flexibility if you communicate with them. Jon

    Issues with SF-97

I'm right ahead of you... EUC filled on 10/22/15 Last update on 12/2/15 I called yesterday and Harold put me on hold while he called the site manager at Ft. Polk. He assured me that they are not letting tires go flat, which is good, because a 46,000lb truck sitting on flat tires WILL ruin...
