I think it's just that the engine is so high above the fuel tank, and there is a lot of feet of fuel line from the tank to the engine. Most diesel engines that don't have an electric fuel pump are hard to start if you get air in them... I don't think the Detroit is worse than any other would be...

I ended up ordering the landing gear shoe pictured below, off eBay for $39 shipped. It's supposedly from a M348 trailer and I don't think it's a direct fit, but it looks about right and it's the proper dimensions except for the I.D. of the pipe piece. I'll adapt it and make it fit... Jon

Yup... 8 business days after the EUC clears it is supposed to be picked up. But I think there is some flexibility if you communicate with them. Jon
