Yes it can be done. It is easy once you get the center section out of the rears. Arb also makes a selectable locker for the 2.5 ton rears.

Not everyone has "problems" with it.:) In modern big trucks the bearings are oil bath. but these old trucks still get grease packed bearings.

I use silicone instead of cork, so far so good.
