I was planning on bobbing my A3 so I figured I could bring the 14,000# weight down to 11,000 #. I could then carry 5,000#'s of cargo. As long as you dont exceed the 16,000# you should be good.
Are there any issues registering an A3 in Illinois? I called the sec of state and got pricing up to 16,000 # and it was around $250 for the year.
They said there shouldn't be a problem.
What problems are you guys having in WI?
All the A3's I have seen are CAT's
All of the A2's I saw are Herculese, Continental or White motors. When did Detroit and Cummins make motors for the A2?
I bought an A3 for these simple facts:
Already has super single tires
Nicer seats
Heat
Drop sides bed
Less rust and body work to do
Less...
The A2 looks a **** of a lot better, and I like the manual trans.
The A3 has the Cat turbo motor and allison transmission.... I think that is a bullet proof set-up. If you buy an A3 they already have super single tires and most of them are running, so that means little work.
Its up to you...
So a deuce can handle 20,000# in the bed? I thought they were rated at 2.5 tons off road, 5 tons on road?
I didn't think you could push it that much, but maybe.
The M105's I saw in Sparta WI were selling for over $400, the M101's were $500 plus.
I really want a M101 but they not for that price!
Where did you see them selling for Minimum bid?
That can be easily made. What do these sell for on average for the lot of 3?
I was thinking of getting some Junkyard axles and springs from a Silverado and putting them under it.
Has anyone bought the 105A2 box and made a trailer out of it? if so what axles did you use and what was the overall weight?
I see Gov. Liquidation sells them in lots of (3) without the frame and axles.
