last red light I ran was through a major intersection in Tampa. Light was just turning red... I was braking, but only one brake was working. That tire was squealing halfway through the intersection; luckily a squealing tire works better than a horn. I replaced my calipers the next day.
I ride motorcycles 8 months a year in Idaho (if it's not icy/snowy, I'm riding!) I am extremely paranoid of people taking left turns. That and people who drive mini-coopers. I discriminate equally.
I've been checking out the EPA requirements for WMO, it seems that the regs want you to have an EPA ID# to transport more than 55 gallons of used motor oil at a time. Additionally, EPA regs on used oil cease to apply when mixed with diesel to be used in the handler's personal vehicles. Farmers...
hey preacherboy, can you head me in the right direction to a wife TM, and could you tell me beforehand if it includes a list of necessary tools? I need the TM that would train the wife, but it might be nice to have one that properly instructs on safe handling, so's I don't get myself hurt or...
any way you could get a brake light assembly off and mail it to Idaho in a flat rate box? The extreme cold out here cracked the plastic on one of mine.
Looking at them buckets hanging from the forks gave me the willies! I could just imagine you hitting a bump with those frozen plastic buckets hanging there and...the words that would follow. How cold was it when you were moving them. Any mishaps?
NDT just dropped a thread-stopper!
I wonder if I can get them to sell my '83 Dodge Aries (urban camoflauge) on their website. It's got great spark plugs.
I haven't had to lift for anything more than tire changes so far...but I was able to get my hands on an awesome jack. My buddy's dad got a 50-ton locomotive jack that stows nicely in the tool compartment, made of cast aluminum. with a 6-foot bar, one person can jack up the front end of the...
About this North-to-South trip...How many of us have been down to Panama? I spent a lot of time there a while back (2001, 2002) I've seen where the 2-track road ends in Panama. Look at a road map of that region--the 2 continents do not have connecting roads. (The Pan-American Highway, aka La...
I know that running stock 9's on mine, there's a noticeable gearing ratio gap between 3rd and 4th gear. Is the gap more pronounced on 15.5's? Does it lug down pretty bad when you throw it up into 4th?
On a quick note, when I got my duece I aired the tires up to highway spec, and got a 5 mph increase over what the previous owner got. Makes sense...proper air pressure=less drag, which let's you go faster. That 5 mph increase was with a load of wood in the back, too.
I'm not a tracking guru. That being said, would it be possible to tell the direction of travel simply due to the slight variations of the front wheels when turning? (Assuming that the back 2 wheels on the track aren't tracking perfectly behind the front in a turn.)
I'm glad you posted this, it brings up a question I have, since I've lived in the North just a short time. My duece came with tires chains when I bought it, 2 duallie sets. In a situation like this, where the vehicle is unable to move forward or backward, is it still possible to "chain up," or...
My dad recommended driving the runaway truck up to a concrete barrier (we all have tons of those laying around:roll:), stop, and then start the truck into the barrier in 5th gear. seems like that might work. If you have the guts to tool around in a truck that's screaming bloody murder...
