    this might sound crazy....

If you pull the front bolts from a M101 and tilt the bed back and the A frame front down you can fit them in smaller spaces. There is another recent thread about flipping one M101A2 and putting it atop another.

Gas to Diesel generator modification info?

The smell of Diesel smoke means reliability, practicality, efficiency, and common sense are present. I love the smell of Diesel smoke in the morning. BTW, from what I understand, small Yanmar Diesels like the L series (L48-L100) can run on veg oil without any modifications. Also, the Chinese...

Gas to Diesel generator modification info?

I have a MEP-016E which is a MEP-016B(Onan Diesel) converted to Yanmar power. There are some MEP-016As that were converted from gas to Yanmar Diesel. 1800RPM Diesel gensets under 5kW are very few and far between. Almost all are 3600RPM. If you want to sell or trade one or two of those 2kWs...

    Nicely done.

Run 2 x MEP 002a in parallel for 10kw total?

I see what you say about the electromagnetic sync lock. Wouldn't you need to keep the load perfectly balanced for it to stay? What happens if you bring the second online and it is exactly 180 degrees out of phase? You get 480V? I would think if there was an economical way to combine the...

    MEP 003 Died

I'd have to look at a schematic to be sure but isn't there a relay on the board that might be causing this?

    Beadlocks on M101A2

Is that not an A3 with the drop axle? Either way 8 lug wheels, bead lock or not, will fit the hubs. Check those tires carefully, all I've seen on M101 trailers have great tread but are cracked and would be dangerous at speed. The lowest I've seen is $250 for A2 with sides, bows, but no top...

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

You can bet the govt had a way to ID that trailer uniquely. If it isn't stamped on the chassis data plate then the probably used the gen serial # to ID the unit. You may be able to stamp your own suffix # after that # or make up your own #.

    Mep 002a, 003a automatic starting

My 12.5kW 1100lb water cooled Kubota gen is portable. I have a big, fat SO cable with twist lock connectors on the ends. I have a manual transfer switch, though. I've installed a few auto transfer switches for other people but I can't justify the cost for myself. I'd rather be there, start the...

Run 2 x MEP 002a in parallel for 10kw total?

That sounds hinky. The lights do nothing but tell you if you are in phase. With nothing to hold the sets in phase you risk major problems. You need to be able to lock the gens in phase and at the same frequency. If one is off by a Hz then the sync will float and it won't be long before they...

    Mep 002a, 003a automatic starting

You could use a small PLC and have start/run/shutdown gen control for around $100, I would think. Something like an Omron Zen could probably be made to work, essentially making a "two wire start" meaning there are two wires and when they are connected, the gen will start and run. Many transfer...

Run 2 x MEP 002a in parallel for 10kw total?

Nope. No way to sync them up. You could run the two separately, but you wouldn't be able to combine the outputs to drive loads over the single unit rated limits. 5kWs will put out about 7.5kW, generally speaking. They are LOUD! Hunh? I can't hear you because they are so loud.

    M101A2 Picatinny question

That one looks pretty good, from what I've seen. It doesn't have sides, bows, or canvas, but other than that it looks solid. I would bring magnetic lights, pintle hitch, spare tires/wheels, and a farm jack. It is what I did. Harbor Freight has magnetic light kits on sale for $10. Why flip a...

Need Civ axel for M101A1--what to get?

See my thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/59482-m101a1-standard-3500lb-axle-swap.html If you want hand brakes you might as well get the electric actuators. You'll already have the hubs, drums, back plates, etc. My axle was off the shelf, 65" or so hub face to hub face. The...

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

According to this: 2330-01-101-8434, 8750054 8750054 is the manufacturing part number. My guess is there are a couple hundred or maybe thousand, depending on how big the contract Libby had to provide those, of those trailers with that "VIN". Here is another from a SS post:

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

If you have seen more than one trailer with that number in the "VIN" area, then you need to find some other unique number to identify your trailer(s). If there is no unique number affixed to the trailer chassis, then you need to go about finding out how to get one assigned. Your DMV and/or SP...

Being a gen trailer they may have serialized the unit by the gen serial number.

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

That picture doesn't show a VIN. It may be a manufacturer's number or model number or something. The four M101 trailers I've owned (all M116 Chassis) had numbers stamped on the data plates. Edit: It does show a sort of VIN but I think what you need is the serial number. There may be more than...
