No offense but you'd better be careful. Any homemade, non DOT approved braking system may expose you to harmful litigation. If some Yahoo in a Honda swerves in front of you and hits the brakes and you hit them (this could happen with or without trailer at any time), then an ambulance chaser...
I have 4 of the 6 ASK panels. I had a guy who wanted them but I haven't heard from him lately. I had to dig up a box that they would fit in. I'll email him.
Mine just had the mechanical shutdown disabled with a tab under a screw that held the catch back. The solenoid would then only have to...
If you're going to change the brakes anyway, you might as well get a new axle with lug pattern that matches your truck.
Start with an A1 (I assume you're doing a M101). A2s have the surge brakes which you'd have to disable.
When I modded my 101A1 (see thread elsewhere) I put the 3500lb axle...
A buddy of mine gave me a tired old M101A1 trailer. At one time it had a generator on it. To suit my needs it needed to be lower and preferably lighter. I'm pulling with a Toyota Tacoma. The big 5 lug wheels, brakes, axle, and generator accouterments had to go. We had some spare Jeep wheels...
Sounds like you have a decent knowledge of what you're doing.
You could tie down the decompression release, and maybe disconnect the fuel solenoid and use the starter to turn it over while you test.
If all is good and you get the wiring sorted then on to the VR.
If you're getting 0.6 Ohms between those wires then they probably mislabeled the wires.
Double check between each wire and the gen case.
You should get nothing (infinity).
Next, check the field stator windings, gen head wires F1 and F2. Book says should be something like 27 Ohms. I got...
To pull start:
1. Slowly pull the rope until extreme resistance is felt. This will happen when it reaches compression stroke. Let the rope back in.
2. Flip the red decompression lever on the top of the cylinder head.
3. Give a good, strong, long tug on the rope.
My windings are as per...
I just put a civy 3500lb axle under a M101A1.
The A2s have heavier leaves than the A1s, but the A1 I have had 7 instead of 5 leaves.
I haven't seen an A3 but I'll bet the spring mounts are the same. Just measure them.
I thought the A3s had better 4" frame?
The M101s should all be on M116...
If I were you I would either spend the extra bucks to make that yellow wire more properly safe or hard wire the box end and leave the gen end like it is.
Be careful going to automatic transfer switches. It sounds like you have a good switch/disconnect in place. Oftentimes if you go auto you...
Your yellow wire is DANGEROUS. You should have a male connector on the gen end and a FEMALE connector on the other end and a corresponding male receptacle for the FEMALE connector.
What you have now is a potential shock hazard if plugged into a running generator and not plugged into the box on...
It isn't technically multifuel but people say you can run the 10HP Yanmar Diesel in the MEP-016E gen sets on straight veg oil with no mods. It that is indeed true then I assume it would burn any kind of Kerosene or heating oil readily available. I have not tested this, yet, though.
For synchronous generators, it is simple.
If the gen head is a two pole, it needs to go 3600 to give 60Hz.
If the gen head is a four pole, it needs to go 1800 to give 60Hz.
..............six pole..................1200.......................................
A MEP-016B head, for example, has 3...
If there is an arc then something is probably connected that shouldn't be if the unit is off.
Electrically, there is no way to prevent an arc, no matter in which order you connect the wires, if a circuit is made by the connection of the batteries.
No closed circuit, no arc.
Closed circuit =...
Isn't that one of the gens you should not run at anything other than full throttle?
The HZ meter should not read 60 unless you are at proper output RPM.
Or, is 1/2 throttle giving you 1800RPM?
