Shawn and I had to go to Ontario last week for some building materials at Homey Dope-o(bath room remodel--I guess it's time when your feet go thru the bottom of the cheapo plastic tub!)
Since we were so close, we stopped by Alex' place to get an eyeball on the Oshkosh.
FREAKING...
Yep, shop around--get your own glass and install it yourself. The Chevy's of that era are one of the easiest to put in.The glass place should be able to get you the tools you need-they are cheap.
Start by pulling out the center "lock" strip out of the gasket(rubber). Then use the plastic...
Half tracks are high on my list of favorite vehicles---------- some day:( maybe I can end up with one!
Which brings me to the thought that SOMEDAY this stuff will be so rare (and I will use the example of the WWII warbirds) that we will be wishing we would have saved every last tattered...
Agreed! That is one of the coolest vehicles in the hobby in my eyes.
Now, not to hi-jack but since this monster got bumped up today I'll use the opportunity to ask those on the board that know these things-----I have done a bit of research and have seen mention on the al-mighty interweb, that...
I had applied for my Part 137 Agricultural Aircraft Operators Certificate. One of the steps was to have the FAA feller show up and inspect the airworthiness of the airplane I was using, part of which was ensuring all the safety related placards were in place as required.
This guy was all...
Heath and 73m819 is correct, there is a lot to be said for going SLOW in a case like this---a very rare "orphan" engine that may be expensive or impossible to get replacement parts for.
Breaking something with brute force is NOT good.
Soaking is good but please don't use D-8 Cats, dynamite...
Sheesh, you folks have it MADE back East---I looked at a 101 trailer a while back-750.00 and not about to budge!! Not uncommon to see both 105 and 101 trailers go for 1500.00.
400.00 for a nice 105 would be a STEAL out here.
Jim
Hey, neighbor!! Nice truck!!
I almost bought (SHOULD have) a 715--saw it in California while on a trip in 2009. I was trying to be a good boy and waited till I got home before I called the phone number to get the particulars. I had already spent that year's rust budget on Cletracs and did not...
Yep, that's Jim Grunkes place on HWY 95. He restores, then sells them --seen some on Ebay. Very knowledgable, very skilled and all around good guy. I have bought a few parts from him over the years.
He had a every nice M36 Gasser (long wheel base) with a Shelter on the back, it would make a...
My "parts" truck is USMC. Makes it hard to decide what I want to do with it. If it were just another Army Deuce I'd either bob it or make some other "custom" thingie. It has been severly Bubba-tized already so going back stock would a LONG road indeed!
BUT --I'm thinking if Marine Corps...
I'm guessing he means the GMC CCKW 2 1/2 ton military truck of WWII. Some models were indeed "air-trans portable" in that they were built in two large chunks --the front and back-and bolted together just behind the cab.
I would suggest looking up the website milweb, it's based in England and...
The county hall monitor showed up at a buddy's place and informed him in no uncertain terms that he WILL install a fence around his place so as to block the public from the view of all his "junk". Said the fence WILL be painted also.
Buddy said no problem I'll get the fence started and...
Agreed on check fence height rules. My duma$$ county already has a 6' law. Tried to pass another round of rules that included "no fences higher than 4' within 100' to the highway" (I'm on the highway:()
Fences high enough to block the view of our stuff from the highway (and to give me some...
Also remember there is a critical time with Synthetic Enamels--known as re-coatability. If you have JUST painted-it will take another coat--or if it has cured for a good while(like a week or better) it will take a another coat. BUT in between it will lift like you poured paint remover on...
My E-brake was stuck also--seemed to be mostly gummed up with old hard grease. I put Lacquer Thinner in the hose of my grease gun and injected it into the cable that way so as to "thin" the old hard grease. Once things got moving I got fresh grease into it.Seemed to work okay.
Nice truck BTW...
