You DON'T need to replace the injectors...
Do an advanced search here on the CUCV portion of the forum for an 'Injector tip' change. I hate to admit it, but my mind is blank who posted it. But for about $100 you can replace the injector tips with the 6.2L MARINE injector tips and then replace...
Barrman,
right on the money.
that's WHY I LIKE these engines in these trucks - not much to actually break - and IF properly maintained and run within specs - they should give you another twenty - thirty years of service.
The key is proper maintenance and not abusing what you have. But it...
I just hauled 1300+ lbs of firewood in one of my M101 trailers. I THINK I took the A2, but if not, I could have taken the A1.
We loaded it to the top of the rails. My buddy gets about a cord of wood every year. He didn't want to take his deuce and his M105 trailer so I volunteered the M1009...
DON'T replace it. Have yours rebuilt AND calibrated at your local speedo shop. Don't have one? Look for someone who DOES calibrations on speedo's.
It's not cheap to have it done right, but when it's done, your ORIGINAL speedo will work properly and you will get another twenty plus years of...
all motors are basically big air pumps...
the more air in and the more air out, GENERALLY SPEAKING means better mpg
Those twenty year old mufflers are not doubt in need of replacement - go with a three chamber free flow - and then replace your filter with a K&N...
I also did the old 'hot...
And there are TONS OF THESE TRUCKS THAT ARE LOW MILES
Don't believe for one second that ALL the CUCV's turned over 100k. I own TWO that if they went over 100k, they were then REBUILT BY CHEVROLET, because they do not drive LIKE they had any miles on them...
Gear Ratio Calculator
Just plug in your numbers and you will see that you don't ACTUALLY go over redline (3250) until you pass 65 mph...
At least with 4.56 gearing...
and 235/85/16 tires...
but if you are NOT used to the screaming of the 6.2 at that rpm it DOES sound like it's getting ready...
Did the front grill push guard come the way we see it now?
Or did you modify it to suit a specific customer request?
What are those two front 'things' and is that a piece of steel up front?
LOOKS GREAT BTW. Love your work.
Guess I'm gonna have to pop for the leather replacements for the...
You need to make the video 'public' you can do that by editing the video and down on the bottom left, make it a public video and HOPEFULLY that will resolve the issue.
I know it sounds weird, but the voltage can vary if the BULBS in the dashboard are bad or weak.
I'm not kidding.
Glad you found and fixed the problem.
Nice looking truck.
How are the seats? I've always liked the wider seats in the M1010...
Niferious,
I take MY OWN VEHICLE, using my own money, my own fuel, etc. to run convoy for my club.
Now as an LEO, you want to take YOUR DAY OFF, take YOUR VEHICLE and run convoy interference for us FOR FREE? Come on down.
But you won't. But that's kewl. I expect you will still criticize...
Thanks jj...
You know I'm tail end charlie on purpose. ANYONE can lead a convoy.
You have to be willing to stop and help broken down members AND call the lead truck and tell them the problems if we encounter any.
And yeah, it's not an ego thing.
IT'S A SAFETY THING...
OK, let me help you folks out.
I've been 'stopping traffic' for all sorts of reasons.
At June this year, I went to pick up my second M1009 in Ft Riley, KS.
I got out of Colorado and was rolling along I-70 and came across a guy WANDERING in the left lane of I-70 east bound. I managed to wave...
My buddy who is still in says they call them 'whoopee lights'...
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/60137-my-whoopee-lights-convoy-signs.html
CONVOY DUTY FOR SURE.
Come in real handy. Sometimes I have to block an intersection to let our larger trucks get through, especially if it's a turn...
Solid Gold,
Is JJ and A Performance shop the same shop in Boring that 'balances' the injectors on the 6.2L?
Lived in Portland for a while, my FIL had a place in Boring.
Loved living there for sure.
Look for a HMMWV compressor. TWO WIRE 24v compressor. Find a place to mount it, bolt it in place, run electricity, plumb in a tank and your are good to go.
I believe this particular unit is connected to the CTIS system, but you would have to talk to a HMMWV owner, and that is NOT me. But I'm...
