Not true. It will fit in 1 spot... when you've got an opening across from where you want to park so you can maneuver in to the spot. With the winch it sticks out about a foot and a half in the front, but it isn't bad at all.
You're in Texas... hopefully some of our TX members will chime in. Your best bet is to see if someone near you will give you a hands-on demo of the Deuce. Ride with them, and then give it a shot yourself.
It's a combination of both. I actually double-clutch the transfer case, too, in a manner of speaking. Just let the clutch out when the Xfer is in neutral, then clutch back in and pull it the rest of the way into High Range.

That's how I drive regularly, and that's how he did it. Just on a side note, I double-clutch everything, but that's just me.
Ethanol or whatever, if you let gas sit for a while, it ain't gonna work as well as it did before. Just grab a bottle of Sta-Bil and add that each time you fill up.

Think like an 95-year-old when driving the deuce. Driving like a pissed off teenager kills a lot quicker with 13k lbs of steel than with a 1500lb import.
I must say, if there's ever a satisfying job to do on the M37, it's brakes. I replaced everything save the brake lines, and it feels sooo good to be able to lock 'em up without even having to pump the brakes!

While we can't do three nights, a cabin is only a few bucks more than a hotel, and it's closer, too, so I'm going to call and see if I can't get one tomorrow.
I'm going to be going up Friday after lunch and staying at a Helen hotel, I figure that will be easier to manage than trying to leave at 5:00 AM Saturday and still have enough energy for the drive home that evening...
If you park it in gear, just leave the engine stop cable out. Personally, I don't park mine in gear except for when I'm on the road and I have to park somewhere that is a bit of a grade.
If I'm not mistaken there are pictures of Wreckerman with his Ford Ranger pickup in the back of one of his deuces... it can be done.
Just need to be familiar with the deuce first, because that's some precious cargo you'll have back there.
