Deuce At Work Winching Trees This Weekend

I took the Deuce out to do some work today. I had two oak trees that I needed to take down that were leaning over the house. I hooked up the winch and put tension on the trees in the direction I wanted to drop them. The winch worked like a champ. I put tension on the trees with the winch...

    M37 / propane ???

The only M37 I've ever seen running on propane had been retrofitted with a Ford tractor diesel and was being used in a marble mine.

New deuce with a torque rod problem

I would get a used one and replace it on site. Use some straps to pull it back together. It shouldn't take long.

    Transfer case IP

I'm the same way. I like to search the TMs in digital form for key words, but I like a printed manual to actually 'use'. Put the TM on a CD and have it printed and put in a 3-ring binder. I do that with all my TMs, so you get the best of both worlds.

    New from NC

Welcome to Steel Soldiers! You'll get a lot of support here. I'm in Hiawassee, GA about 1/2 mile from the Western North Carolina line. Where in NC are you located. I looked at mapquest and discovered that there are six different cities named Concord in NC.

    new Deuce shifting problems

Whatever you do, don't force it. Find out what's wrong and fix it. You may bend or break a shift fork if you force it. I never have trouble downshifting into 4th on my Deuce and I'm now on my second transmission (lost 5th gear). I agree with Barrman - check the lube first. I use GL-1 in...

Pickup day is fast approaching for the Deuce

I picked up an M116A2 trailer last year. They had no such requirements for trailers at that time, but I don't know about now. However, it did take me about an hour to get through security, so make sure you arrive early enough. It would be a bummer to miss your narrow window and have to come...

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

Good News! Nothing nefarious at hand! The Towns County DMV and Gilmer County DMV worked together and my trailer is now registered in my name with the proper VIN#. They wouldn't tell me the other person's name, but he had a trailer with the same S/N. They contacted the State of Georgia and...

needing heelp with m105a2 recovery in the morning

I would recommend taking an air compressor in case you have a flat tire. Once you start pulling it, pull over after 5 or 10 miles and feel the hubs to see if there is any heat build up which would indicate a problem. Warm is ok, hot is not. Depending on what you are pulling it with, you will...

    Engine swap fun

With my luck it would have let go in the middle of a busy intersection! Be thankful.

    Insurance for M35A2 in Georgia

Mine is insured by State Farm in Georgia with no problems. It is a commercial policy for non-commercial use. The agent had to call the district office to get the price quote. It was reasonable. I also received a quote from Progressive. My State Farm agent is Susan Devries at 321 N. Main...

driving deuce in cold with no defrost.

My Deuce has a heater and therefore a defroster. I lay a piece of blanket across my windshield, held at each end by closing the door on it. In the morning, I simply pull the blanket off and the windshield is clear. Two problems though, the idea is a miserable failure if you have freezing rain...

    Deuce Ownership Anniversary Today

Very nice looking truck. You should transfer the winch from your parts truck, assuming it is in good working order.

    Mysterious brake fluid loss

If you haven't done so already, I would park it on a clean concrete driveway or some other clean area that can be monitored for drips. It is possible that you have a leak somewhere that is dripping but not leaving any wet areas behind to see. Otherwise, keep filling the reservoir and...

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

It's definitely a military trailer because it's registered as an M116A2. My trailer tag that was issued 14 months ago is listed in the system as currently unassigned. In Georgia the tag stays with the owner and does not go with the vehicle, and can be used if you purchase another vehicle...

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

I'm seriously considering driving over to Gilmer County and pay their office a visit. It isn't that far from where I live. It's hard to believe someone could register their trailer in Gilmer County, which call for a Bill of Sale from the previous owner, and the Bill of Sale didn't match my...

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

I'm sure that would work! I may end up driving to Gilmer County. Apparently, I can request the other person's name and address from the State of Georgia, but the request must be in writing, notorized and they wait 10 days prior to replying due to the privacy rules.

Anybody in Gilmer County Georgia With M116A2?

Does anyone know someone in Gilmer County Georgia with an M116A2 trailer? I went to pay my ad valorem taxes today for my M116A2 trailer with MEP-003A GenSet. Lo and behold, I was informed that I had sold my trailer about two months ago. This was news to me, since I still have the trailer and...

    Clutch Job Looming

If you can get a truck transmission jack, it makes the job a lot easier. Be careful - that thing is heavy and it's easy to lose a finger.
