Yup.
NC Motor Carrier Enforcement will dip your tanks if you run around here long enough. They love to show up at places like livestock auctions, equipment auctions, etc where lots of diesel trucks may gather and walk the lot dipping tanks.
I had my pickup dipped once. I was filling 10...
Brand new, no. CONFIRMED in good working order, yes.
How does one define good working order? The TM's are a good start. For a vehicle that has been sitting for up to a year or more that you have no idea the history, the standard I set for my battalion, the standard set by Army regulations, is...
Driving anything from GL off post is a gamble. In my opinion it is also irresponsible.
These trucks are not being sold because they run too well. After they were turned in by the last unit, they have been totally neglected in maintenance for anywhere from 6-18 months, and during that time...
To bring this back up, I think I found a possible place that has a lot going for it. I know a lot of you guys are set on GA, but consider this spot.
Sevier County Fairgrounds
In Sevierville TN, right outside Pigeon Forge. This fairgrounds looks ideal.
Advanatges-
Great location with tons...
I always email mine to both EUCINFO@govliquidation.com and INFO@govliquidation.com
The EUCINFO is the one you are supposed to send them to, but the folks at INFO will recieve it and then foward it to EUCINFO- and when they do they always send a confirmation email.
That way they cannot claim...
I always go prepared to self load- nothing sucks more to drive that far and the Government Liquidation forklift won't start because they don't maintain it.
I take a pintle hook for my reciever hitch and a couple of jackstands. If it comes down to it, unhook your trailer, put the jackstands...
OK- unit with the blue tag in the first pic is NSN 2930-01-397-3075, looks like a 15kw genset radiator.
2930-010-479-1801 fits an MEP-903 genset- that is the one the label shows and the one with the white stencils.
Can't read enough info on the starter to look it up.
I agree- you need more than just the show, and you really need stuff for the family members who are not into MV's to do close by. Having that helps sell it to the other half for lots of folks, and that will increase attendance.
In this region the car shows- especially the specialty ones like...
A quick search looks like the GA National Fairgrounds is the closest one Google shows.
Georgia National Fairgrounds | Perry, GA
It is an impressive facility, but they don't list rental costs on the website.
They don't rent the biggest building- the outdoor arena, for the hamfest and they don't rent the second building. That tightens up up a good deal. There is a lot more room for expansion at that facility past what they get for the hamfest.
In fact the hamfest has been using about 1/3 of the...
Is there a county fairgounds near there?
There are several upsides to using a facility like that:
The facilities are designed for shows and events.
They are availabe for rent.
They usually have electrical hookups for those camping.
They have restrooms available eliminating the cost and mess...
I think if done right you don't need a museum to draw people in. Most shows I go to that have a museum involved most attendees don't even enter the museum.
The WWII Weekend every June in Reading PA is a great example. The Mid Atlantic Air Museum runs it, but if you show up most of the museums...
Here is my .02
Locate it in an already high tourist area. This will mean several things:
First, there is a hotel/restaurant/campground infrastructure that can support it. Even better if there are local shopping and activities for spouses who may support our addiction, but not enough to hang...
I am in NC, but I am regularly in the upstate as my USAR unit is there, so it feels like a second home.
Who here owns the lot on 321 south of Swansea with all that good looking stuff rotting away?
What we did with our built up dueces was to build a cover like that, but then place an extended canavs or vinyl cover over it. You take two covers, and use parts of one to extend the sides of the other. That will keep the water out better than trying to seal it and fighting the effects of road...
