    A question for MKT owners

GUYS THANKS! That's why I always ask the stupid questions. I'd never thought of an axle swap. That might actually work. AND it would not only lower CG, as you folks have pointed out, replacing the axle with a double set? That WOULD make towing it easier on the dually. AYE CARAMBA. You...

    A question for MKT owners

Dang G, That's a double win. I'll think about it. AND adding electric brakes? Seems like a possible. Of course, I could always pick up a deuce, pull the bed off and put the MKT in place of the bed. THAT WOULD RAISE the whole platform, which is not a good thing. But might not be a bad...

    A question for MKT owners

OK, See I agree with the whole 'if it blows a tire' thing and that alone scares the juju bees out of me. I've always wanted to bob an M109 and mod it up a little bit. This would make a great tow vehicle. I could even bob an M800 series tractor and then put the bobbed M109 box on the back. Or...

    A question for MKT owners

I do understand that stopping issue. But other than that? I pulled a 20 ft U-Haul trailer full of my library and other heavy items. With a 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban 6.2L Banks turbo with TH400 power. I made three runs from SF Bay area up to Portland, Oregon, but the first was the most, uh...

    A question for MKT owners

It seems an MKT may be in our future. The wife REALLY, REALLY liked the one she cooked on at the airshow. 'So many applications' were her exact words. So, my question is this. Everyone seems to say (PLEASE CORRECT THIS) that you can only pull an MKT with a deuce or five ton. Don't get me...

One more detail and shes DONE!!

Nick, THANK YOU SIR for sharing this work. I have an M101A1 and an M101A2 that I need to refinish. At least the A1. The A2 is in pretty fair shape. Two years ago I was cutting bows. On the last bow, the last cut, my table saw 'grabbed' the wood and shot it back into my leg. It bounced off...

last word in CUCV stereo install

'D' is the GM designation for military (DOD) vehicles that were at one point civilian. My M1009's are listed as D10's, and my M1028A2 is listed as a D30.

    M1009 Pricing?

Yeah, I've got to concur. It's worth what YOU thinks it's worth. OK, maybe it's worth WHAT YOUR WIFE thinks it's worth. THAT'S my situation... LOL! Yet here I sit with two M1009's and one M1028A2, all of which my wife gave me the money to buy. I only need to add the M1010 and the M1031...

    CUCV mod and hot rodding.

jfrom189, This is actually a great suggestion. A sub forum under each section called 'modded vehicles' type of thing. AND it should ONLY BE for mods. Like has been said, climbing over fifty threads to read ONE that interests you is kind of a pain.

Over 50 MVCC Units at Denver Airshow

jr, How long did it take you to change the flat? You guys were all GONE when I got back for my 'second load' of vehicles. See, I'm one of those guys who brought FOUR. "Because DEAR, it's my one chance during the year to show off MY TOYS to the club and the rest of the world". Believe me when...

    M1009 Pricing?

My first M1009 had 60k miles and I paid $4000 for it from a private individual. It runs fairly well. I've had to replace the fuel filter base plate and bracket and several other minor parts. And I've had to trouble shoot several problems and fix them myself. My M1028A2 (dually) had 14k miles...

SS, I got my last rebuilt starter solenoid through Boyce Equipment... Boyce Equipment Axles and Military Parts Napa's starters are OK, but their solenoids pretty much suck. I get any electrical needs I have through Boyce and have never had any problems or issues.

ROLL CALL: "West Texas Detachment" Identify Yourselves, Please.

The Hunt for Heroes parade is on Friday, November 19th, 2010. Last year it started at about 10 am if my memory is correct. If I have ANY interest from anyone, I'll gladly forward contact info on to my sister and her contact info on to ANYONE who wants to join either of the parades.

ROLL CALL: "West Texas Detachment" Identify Yourselves, Please.

USAFSS-Coldwarrior, Check your PM's. I have not one, but TWO parade offers in San Angelo in the month of November. They are having a Veterans Day parade. They are also having the 'Hunt for Heroes' parade the Friday BEFORE Thanksgiving. They are asking for ANY MV's. I live in Denver and...

My M1009 IS HERE! Pictures and video!

Maybe on the CUCV's as I have not pulled one of these yet. But I'm gettin ready to this winter and replace it with a NOS. But I've owned six mid 1980's Suburbans and this is patently FALSE. I've replaced two badly torn up stock steering wheels by either pulling them and repaired them back to...

    cucv bench seat color

OK, I can at least help with the correct GM color code for the dash and the doors. I would 'assume' (I KNOW, I KNOW) the vinyl is the same color. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/56523-m1009-interior-door-panels-atlanta-area-3.html#post654182 The paint code is : 3054 DK TBRONZE 82 GM 76 DN

The electrical gods smiled on me today...

Yeah, I enlarged the wiring diagram up to an 11 x 18 and then had it laminated so I could trace things without having to use my glasses. Well for the diagram part it works great. I still need my glasses when I'm chasing wires. OH WELL, just gettin old... I believe it's the lowest 30 amp fuse...
