i have yet to see a decent 5ton come up ( other then an 817 on 1400s for 9500)in the NW. im waiting for that ever elusive 814 to come up, but id settle with an 813, 818 or 816 =0
hell i dont even know what an 815 is, or even if one exists, but ill take it.
this has got the be the shortest wheel base truck ive seen. i was exploring pirate4x4 and happened to click on a link that eventually ended with this picture, dont know if its been posted here before or not, but im having a hell of a time trying to figure out if its a 5ton or a deuce. im...
couple 5tons, couple heavy tow bars, i bet we as a group could get it moved. 2 5tons in front and 2 in back. just heavy towbared together. id think 4 trucks could supply enough braking power, and tractive effort to move it.
i saw this deuce in a TV show, and it doesnt look like anyone ive seen, i dont know if it happens to be a custom truck or one im just not familular with. This is the best angle i could get screen shots from. the short bed and roll bar is what gets me, i have never seen one like that before.
belts always tend to break at the worst possable time. i had my alt belts snap on the freeway on the way to a rally, thank god Hammer was running behind, he saved my ass, but in watching him help me change my belts(well he did most of the work, and i still owe him 5 bucks next time i see him) ...
well i normally tow a 7500lb trailer or so. 16ft carhauler with a 1985 toyota landcruiser. and normally the firewood and what not. and on the flats or even mild hills i can normally keept 55ish. soons there a grade im normally down in 4th at 40ish just screaming along, on a 5.5% grade hill i was...
yeh when we did the PNW rally thing a few months back, one of the guys from canada had 1100s on his truck, i thought my deuce was going to die trying to keep up at some points. i was pushin her to keep up with Hammer in his 5ton of 1600's on the way there. 1100's would be nice but i also pull...
ive never been able to find tire chains cheep for 900's id really love to get at least 3 sets so i can put some on each axle but if i was going to spend alot of time in the snow, id put them on all the tires. does it make a difference dunno, but it would make me feel better.
id love to see a deuce with 1100 XLs with duals. ive seen 5tons with them, and with them singled in the back but i havent seen one with duals. i think that would look sick personally.
and yes the NDTs do look better on these trucks then road tires. least to me.
ill keep that in mind, i remember when we did the PNW run Aaronw said he bought a trailer just for the tires, i might have to get ahold of him and see what he did the with electrical.
