    M200A1 Trailer Question

IF you plan to keep and use the trailer there are a couple electric / hydraulic conversion kits available for those trailers. or any trailer with hydraulic wheel cylinders. The are super simple to install and they work great. I used a 1500 lb. on on a dual wheel generator trailer with an 005 on...

Mep-002A 003A 004A 005A Drop in Spin on Fuel filter adapter

Excellent news Ken! I recommend blue Loctite 242 and about 30 ft/lbs on the fitting. Also, orient the adapter with the 3 holes at 9:00 12:00 and 3:00. This will minimize oil drain back in the event of a leaky anti-drain back valve in your filter and result in quicker oil pressure. Thanks Ray.

    MEP 005A Emergency shutdown

Well, a balanced generator is a happy generator, but.... it will still function perfectly fine with just the 2 legs being utilized, especially with your light load.... Which bring up the whole Wet Stacking issue. Your relatively little load on a 30K will lead to wet stacking and black goo...

    MEP 005A Emergency shutdown

I believe that is correct Guy. So I assume your thought here is to run your single phase 240 ( technically 208 single phase ) off L1 and L2, then throw some other misc. 120V single phase loads on the courtesy plug ( or L3 /L0 directly ) to get a little more power and help balance things out a...

    MEP003 voltage not stable

Ok, good info. Also, disregard my earlier comment about the hole in the VR. I was thinking you had an 803 not 003. On your machine the issue could still be a failing voltage adjust pot on the control panel and there are also a couple linear adjustable resistors on the VR that can get funny as...

    MEP003 voltage not stable

Any answers to post #2 as far as how you're reading the voltages?

    MEP 005A Emergency shutdown

Correct. it will never throw a fault and then slowly wind down to a stop with the power still ON. However.... it is possible to have mechanical failures that could lead to some degree of engine slowing down before power disconnects. A mechanical failure with the IP for example, or a plugged...

    MEP003 voltage not stable

3 Thoughts... 1) are you measuring voltage with the factory gage or are you using a DMM or known accurate digital gages? The factory gages are not totally accurate, more of a ballpark reading. 2) If using a DMM or known good digital gage, first thought would be that your voltage adjust pot may...

    MEP 005A Emergency shutdown

In the case of a fault, power disconnects immediately at the magnetic circuit interruptor. Depending on the fault condition the engine may or may not shut down. Things like over voltage, over current etc. only disconnect power, they don't shut down the engine. Low oil pressure, low fuel, over...

Mep 803A will not Shut off

Ok, you Do not have the fuse mod. done to your set. The gray fuse holder to the left of the AC select switch is your alternator. Look at Call Me Colt's recent posting just below this one called 802 Fix up thread 2.0 He just added the fuse mod to his 802 and posted a picture of what it normally...

Mep 803A will not Shut off

Well, I guess we shouldn't delete this one now because you're adding more info to this one instead of the other post, so.... For your no power issue, first thing you should do is look to the left of your voltage regulator and see if there is a fuse holder mounted right there. If so, this is the...

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread 2.0

On the fan belt a trick I have used 100x on other items is to work the belt between 1 fan blade and the shroud at a time until you get around all the blades. Find a convenient spot and work it through, reverse procedure to reinstall. You only need like a 5/16" gap somewhere to slip it through...

2009 MEP-803A manually cranks, but hits stop

You are super lucky! There is no need to REPLACE the other pistons, but while you're there you could pull the other 3 and just make sure the rings are not stuck at all and inspect things. Since you had water but no rust I would expect the rings to be free, but you are already 80% of they way...

On the hunt for a gas turbine!

You must have excess fuel you need to dispose of! I contemplated buying one at auction several years ago, just for the fun of it, but price went beyond what I was willing to pay for a bunch of fun listening to it wind up. I assume you've already been looking on the normal Gov't auction sites?

2009 MEP-803A manually cranks, but hits stop

Pull the side cover, remove connecting rod cap and pull it out, lets see if the bore is damaged or not. I've got spare pistons and rods if needed.

2009 MEP-803A manually cranks, but hits stop

I see what you're doing now. You're turning the fan pulley which is much smaller than the crank pulley, so 1 revolution of the fan is no where near 1 revolution of the crankshaft. Pull the injectors and see what you get and take it from there. On the head gaskets I have used quite a few of the...
