2009 MEP-803A manually cranks, but hits stop

Well, the exhaust flap missing is always a scary scenario, however you are able to rotate the motor some, so that is an excellent sign. Are you saying you ARE able to get multiple revolutions before it jams up? If so, rust in the cylinders is most likely NOT the issue as it would bind with...

New guy here, just picked up a M103-A3, have a few questions

Welcome to the forum! I've also had several M103-A3 generator trailers in a few different configurations and I know what you mean, the tires and brake drums and lug pattern are huge. Unfortunately I never found anything readily available that would bolt on. As for a spare, there have been...

    MEP-803A

another way is to simply put a DC light bulb ( 12 or 24V will work ) between the disconnected wires and alternator stud. If the bulb glows you have a battery draw caused by a bad alternator diode.

    MEP-803A

Absolutely. One way is to disconnect the charging output wires from the back of the alternator, these are the 2 wires on the larger stud with a + cast into the alternator housing. Usually on the bottom or bottom left depending on how your alternator is clocked. Check using your volt meter, you...

MEP-802a AC disengages when I release the switch

I once had an 802 doing the same thing. In my case it was a faulty short circuit / overload relay. The TM tells you how to test the K4 Circuit interrupter, but if your light illuminates the relay has to be working because the light is powered by a switch inside K4 that closes when K4 pulls down...

    Another MEP003 is alive

In your control cube, as you mentioned, you will have AC voltage available at the volt gage, which will still be controlled by you AM/VM switch. You will no longer need the Frequency transducer, so you can disconnect it from the transformer. If your gages also need 120VAC, ( in addition to the...

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

Don't put fuel in that hole.... it's probably already full of water from the flap being open!

Coat the inside. not only will it patch your current hole, it will also encapsulate any other rust areas and create a complete interior liner that will prevent any further problems. As long as you prep the tank well and use the 2 part epoxy you will never have to touch it again.

Check the face of the gage, lower right side. It should be labeled with the Full Swing current, which I believe is 1amp AC for a full needle swing, so I'd imagine the CT would be milliamps.

I'd get the 20gl kit and mix up about 3/4 of it. You can save a bit for another project, or mix more if you think you need more. The 10gl. kit is probably just barely enough to cover it, but it all depends on the temperature when you coat it. If the stuff is a little cold it will flow less and...

    Another MEP003 is alive

I remove all the tubes and the fuel gage and float switch, plus the bottom drain. cover the holes with tape ( you can also wipe a little grease in the threads to help with cleaning. Once the epoxy has stiffened up, but still tacky I clean all the threads with acetone and a small wire brush and...

    Another MEP003 is alive

On the fuel tank, the ONLY way to go is Caswell Plating's 2 part fuel tank epoxy. I've used it on at least 8 tanks, some with holes the size of a pencil and had 100% success every time. The first tank has been in use for about 10 years and still perfect. Clean the tank out good, dry it out...

Mep803a Cranks but won't turn over

FYI, on an 803 I typically use group 34's. They fit very well. Group 26 is non-standard for your machine, but whatever fits and works with the hold-downs will get the job done.

Let me see if I can contact you. If you are unfamiliar with the PM message system, look up near the top right corner of the page and click on the envelope next to your name. New members can't initiate a PM at first, so I will try contacting you, otherwise a Moderator has to forward your message...

    MEP-804A Diode Ring Destroyed

You can get bolts from places like McMaster Carr, I used to get locally at Warwick Industrial Fasteners. But to tell you the truth, Tractor Supply is also a good place. They carry a full range of grade 5 and grade 8 coarse thread. If you need Metric or fine thread you may need to search on-line...

    MEP-002A Cranks but won't start

PM sent about looking at your injectors. Before sending them, have you checked your IP or at least verified you are getting fuel to the injectors? If the machine has been sitting a long time there is a good chance the plunger guide in the IP may be broken. Give us the history on this machine and...
