Not sure what you mean. The issue of incompatibility arises when you attempt to mount an mpt tire on non-mpt wheels. The bead will never seat correctly. However you are perfectly fine putting non-mpt tires on mpt wheels. Such as 395's on a3 wheels.
A drop in transmission....not really. However a member here by the handle m35-tom has an overdrive kit that replaces the 5th gear with a taller one. That is the most practical way to get more top end other than larger tires.
Well with enough time and money anything is possible. But with the multi fuel there's really not a whole lot that can be done in the practical sense. Even turning up the fuel can flirt with disaster if you don't install a pyrometer and carefully watch your EGT's. The bottom end is pretty weak...
Pretty much exactly what I am going to do. So far I have decided to use durabak. At least until someone points me to a better product I don't have to tint myself. They offer od green with UV inhibitors as an off the shelf color.
Truth be told I don't find my truck to be as gutless as some make it seem. And my fuel is not turned up. Civi trucks of the same weight class and year era were often powered by inline 6 cylinders that were gas burners......you wanna talk about gutless wonders.
I know the d flows a little more cfm. I don't believe that equates to much boost pressure gain. Truth be told you probably wouldn't notice the power difference. The turbo is more for cleaning up exhaust smoke than horsepower. The old multi fuel is a rather anemic engine to begin with...
6k should get you a nice deuce. The d and c turbos are a direct swap if the truck you pick doesn't have the turbo you want. Matter of fact I'd trade my d for a c.
Hmm...has it been doing this since you owned the truck or did it suddenly start? Sounds like you need to go through the brake system and inspect everything. Check your master cylinder and pull each drum off and inspect the shoes and wheel cylinders. Also check or shoe adjustments.
How long ago did you replace the air pak? Did you replace it with a new or used unit? Does it do it constantly during warmer weather or every now and then? Your symptoms sound like a frozen air pak. The air over hydraulic system on these trucks is very simple. Think of the air pak as the...
Jeesh and I caught flack for having a small crack welded on an a3 wheel. Nice work and can't wait to see pictures. Also my powder coater can do flat finishes.....wonder why yours couldn't?
That is possible. Is there any way you could at least jerry rig the dash gauge into the line that is reading the correct psi? If so you can narrow down the problem. It is unlikely your new gauge is faulty but it isn't unheard of. Once you rule out the gauge itself it must be the air line...
Sounds like there could be a blockage of some sort in the air line feeding the gauge. Also if I remember correctly there is a check valve between the air tanks that opens after a certain psi. It could possibly be malfunctioning. Unless I am confusing that with the priority valve on the a3.
I have been good. Thanks for asking. I have been following the things you have been repairing/modifying and I have to say it won't be long before that bobber is in top condition. You will have to speak up to understand each other (at least with the insert we did). However you can clearly...
A fellow near me has a bobber with an auger looking insert similar to the twister in his stack. Its not a full muffler...just the insert. They are about 15 bucks from summit racing. It works surprisingly well. You can have a conversation at highway speeds. And don't worry dip. His is a...
Ya I was kind of thinking the same thing. On another note where the air switch is depends on which air pak you have. If you have the short style the air switch is in fact on the front.
Nothing wrong with hemtt wheels and adapters but by the time you buy the wheels, adapter plates, and all of the hardware to bolt it all together you can find a3 wheels for about the same price. As far as drivability of the 395's everyone seems to love them. I'm in the process of singling out...
