Pictures from Robert Loves in Hendersonville NC

Everything is for sale. He sells mostly to loggers and construction companies (hence all the 818's), and doesn't advertise much, it is all word of mouth. He has been doing it 30+ years now, got his start with M-37's and M-715's. His number is 828-685-8775, and he is just outside Hendersonville...

    Advice/Opinions on Half Tents

I have sold thousands of them. As tents, they are worthless. I sell them for $3-5 each and folks use them as woodpile covers, small tarps, etc. The best use is patch material for fixing other canvas items, and for recovering seats (but it is thinner and will not last as long as the real...

Pictures from Robert Loves in Hendersonville NC

He has two wrecker beds out there, but I haven't given them a close look. I know the boom is incomplete on one.

I go by Roberts often, since I only live a few miles away- figured I would put some pictures up.

My Cheap and Easy Parade Top

My experince is that unless you get heavy canvas or the heavy cordura nylon, they will not last. The Wal-Mart stsyle plastic/poly tarps, even the heavy ones, self destruct very quickly with any driving at normal speeds.

My Cheap and Easy Parade Top

I helped a friend do the exact same thing with a 10x12 canvas tarp. His has been on for 2+ years of all kinds of driving, even at highway speeds.

    NC-Ft McCoy and back

I will be going from Asheville NC to Ft McCoy WI on 4-5 August, and returning 27-29 August (dates may change a small bit). I will be in a pickup and can haul items in the bed as needed or tow, towing I would need a little money to offset the extra fuel used. I will likely head through TN, KY...

HUMMVEE have a date with the Gas Axe

PM sent, I can use some of that stuff to train my mechanics who have never seen a M1114.

    Diesel-Kleen overdose

I use power service to fill my fuel filters when I change them. 100% additive for 15-20 seconds doesn't hurt, and seems to clean the fuel system out nicely, so you will be fine.

What is the current "Army" oil change interval for the M1009?

If it was placed in a low use program at an ECS or MATES shop, I could see it going that long. It shouldn't have, but it happens. I have also seen units that are not supposed to have any vehicles "aquire" CUCV's (like a USAR drill sergeant unit I used to share a facility with) and then just...

    Georgia MV Bill...

That would actually be feasable if you proposed a "Historic Military Vehicle" license plate. For $10-20 more a year, of course. Make it an OD plate with white letters, and manage it like an antique auto tag. An OD plate with white letters would not look too bad on most MV's.

    Georgia MV Bill...

My .02, having been involved in the lawmaking process before- drop the tracked part. It gives those opposed too much ammo to attack the bill as a whole, and the only thing a legislator will walk away from reading this with is the mental image of tanks going down main street. Fight for the rest...

M1151A1 6.5L TD: Does eng have electronic control module?

Military 6.5's are strictly mechanical injection, no electronic control of the computer at all. I work on them for the military, so any specs you ned let me know. But the same system you used for the earlier one will work on the 6.5's.

    Equipment for my new Deuce

An upside down 105 trailer bed makes a nice cage. And is far cheaper than a cage as well.

    M1031 PTO Generator Belt

I don't know the technical specs, but the compressor has two filters on it that take the air to breathable specs. The one thing it is missing is a flexible intake hose that take the air intake away from teh diesel exhaust, but you can use any flexible hose for that. I can send you the TM if...
