I think we need some more information here. Fresh clean diesel, new filters, just started doing this, just got the truck running after it was under water for 15 years, etc...?
Another problem is the truck was set up for power steering. Caster angles used to be changed between non power and power steering vehicles. The K5 had only power as your choice. Putting a non power box in there would make it very, very hard to steer at slow speeds. I just searched and could...
The 6.2 returns a lot of fuel to the tank at idle. How much is a lot? I have never measured it, but when running engines in a can. I have a fuel supply hose and a return hose. The return hose has a steady stream coming out of it. Same on my M715. I can see the return going into the fuel...
You mean the silver thing at the bottom right corner of the fuse box? That is a blinker relay. That is what you hear clicking when the blinkers are on. Two pieces of different kinds of metal inside. When they get hot, they more and seperate breaking the circuit. They cool down and touch...
The starter button gets its power from the master on/off switch. Make sure it is all the way up when pushing the red start button. Mine did that for a while until I swapped out switches and all is good.
As already said, start simple, cheap and easy. Then start to worry about the big stuff...
We plan to drive it to the meeting next week Mark. That is why I finally brought in to work to finish out the time consuming stuff. He has a band competition Saturday and it wouldn't get done in time otherwise.
Chris I started giving him tools as he was adjusting the rear brakes, brake spoon...
Having typed what I did yesterday. I of course had a leak today. One of the non clamp end caps came off on my way to work in RED this morning. It is one of the set I got from Badger. I have spares and all is well again. I had another end come off the M715 a few months ago. That is why I...
Since you are new, you get welcomed first. Welcome!
The CUCV trucks are basically Chevy trucks with a few things changed. They are also 1973 vintage wiring practice since that is when the body style first came out. They were a huge improvement over the previous truck wiring, but pretty darn...
I have the German ones from Badger Diesel on 3 of my 6.2 trucks. Great stuff. Call the guy and he will sell it to you by the foot. I had one end of one line that after pulling it off and on about 15 times I had to recut. The rest didn't suffer any. It sure is better than those silly little...
Time for a 3 month update.
Colton pulled the rear wheel cylinders, installed new ones, new brake shoes, adjusted and bled the brakes after he put on a new frame to rear axle brake hose last weekend. This weekend we put on new calipers and pads in the front along with new hoses to each. Plus...
Are they steady all the time or only when the headlights or running lights are on? If it is all the time, then I agree with the above suggestions. A cheap way to check is to turn on the 4 way flashers. If they work, then swap the round flashers on the fuse box. If it is a bad blinker...
Do you still have the stock remote filter? If the filter is clogged, the oil will just bypass it. That block on the passenger side of the engine where the oil filter hoses go also redirects oil back to the pan if the filter isn't taking anymore. I would suggest pulling that block off and...
The "stomp on it" fix is about all there is for the proportioning valve. The -20 manual has a paragraph and picture of a tool that is supposed to be installed on the valve before any brake bleeding is attempted. I have never seen this tool or even heard of one for sale. It is actually more of...
If I remember right, your engine was put together during your rebuild a few years ago? Those psi's sound about right for a fresh engine running 20W-50. Why so thick? The manual calls for straight 30 or 10W-30 if I remember right.
I have 10W-40 diesel Rotella in mine with a pretty fresh...
Are you sure it has diesel in it? To go from running great to barely running in just a few miles almost always comes down to the fuel system. Suggestions above have dealt with fuel filters, fuel pumps, fuel return and the IP. About the only thing left is the fuel and the sock in the tank...
