Littlebob, these engines were very common to have the points crud up. The one I had (and sold) on a 10kw genset, had the condensor connections get all cruddy too. Dont give up yet, these engines are very hardy! Saturn has the cyl and heads, & such pretty cheap.

Check with Teds Trucks & Stuff, I think he has some of the dual voltage humvee alternators.... That would be your best bet.

99% of the time, a ticking noise from the bellhousing area is caused by loose torque converter bolts, loose flex plate bolts, or a broken flex plate. Drop your dust cover, and check things out.
