What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Painting outside is fine. I painted several outside. I painted many in my barn. With one door open and 1 fan running. I have great success outside as long as the weather holds out. I am going to get an 8 hour paint job on another one of my M1009's this year. I looked at my Crown of Thorns m1009...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Just be patient and use a 3/4" - 19 MM line wrench I have only ruined them when I had others to fall back on. I could almost save every one from this point forward. I washed my engine down while you were gone. Good Luck. I just installed the new plastic aluminum model radiator in my m1008...

Gen 2 Light not working but charging?

I was told to ground the white wire going into the double plug of the voltage regulator. That should make the light illuminate if the bulb/circuit traveling to the bulb is good. I will try that when I get home. Old thread and I have the same issue. NO Gen 2 light but charging just fine. I did...

Gen 2 light / Alternator trouble fixed the hard way

I am in a tough spot. I left my Son use my M1009 Crown of Thorns. After 20 + years of trouble free use. I have NO Gen 2 light. It charges perfect and I have no ill side effects. Any clue what could be wrong? I managed to fix the stereo while looking at it today but still no Gen 2. I switched the...

    Gen 2 mount problems etc

Generator 2 spacer I hope this helps someone out. 1 3/4" 3/8" hole. A pipe nipple works perfect. This part has been discontinued for years as is the bolt. The bolt is M10 X 1.5 metric. Good luck. I wanted to get this picture the other day but I was busy.

    Terminus M1009

I removed the front drive shaft and greased the 3 U joints the slip joint and the CV joint. Reinstalled the driveshaft and fired it up. No hacked up starter relay. Just the small cube relay plugged in to the stock connection and tucked up and wire tied under the dash. Tested tough all over and I...

New starter cleaned the entire area and mounting surface. Cleaned the wireing and cable connections. Applied dielectric grease and installed the starter. Moving right along.

    Terminus M1009

With the alternators charging again as designed it was time to change the starter. It had done the click thing 1 time before Ohio. Now it is doing it all the time. You can see the cross member served it's intended purpose. I seen a few marks of blue paint on rocks. I had to wear googles to work...

    Terminus M1009

I pulled out a pair of rebuilt alternators with the solid pulleys. Installed them and the idiot light shown bright again. Started the engine after 10 clicks. Off with the starter.

    Easter find M1008 2015

Hood back on and front end aligned. The new left inner fender apron has been installed. I needed the hood on to get the core/ radiator support lined up properly. I will be taking it off to put the cowl screen on and then reinstall it the final time. Outside the door Terminus M1009 is waiting to...

    Terminus M1009

Someone once told me it was only flat on the bottom. Terminus M1009 made a liar out of them. Keep in mind I was up at 0400 and outside by 0600. It was a cool 68 degrees and i was a working man. The sandy mud is in everything. Have a great day. More progress coming.

    Terminus M1009

Good Morning Terminus M1009. Very clean under the hood but no charging. Wonder why?Battery clamp puller. Very handy tool. You should have one if you don't get one. Very handy. I think I found the problem. NOT my job to fix it. I think this still has the original alternators on it. Both Delco...

    Terminus M1009

This is how the idiot lights look in Terminus M1009. It no longer charges. The taping on the alternators trick has expired. When I did while the engine was running it was like a sand blaster coming out from under the hood. I thought the belts came off when I revved the engine. I suppose all the...

    Easter find M1008 2015

Back to work on my project. I have had more trouble with my lawn equipment this year then I had in 30 years. It is minor stuff. But I always end up soaking wet sweated and bleeding by the time I get it back up and running. Oh well. Such is life in the bush. Ever have a pece of equipment or a...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

The motor mount is NOT correct. The exhaust manifold looks to be the right one. I always go with the motor mount inserts. Hard to tell if the motor mounts are bad when they don't have a 800lb engine laying on them. Your motor mounts you removed look like the right ones. Continue. But I would...
