on the high speed sander I had 36 grit. A couple layers down under blue someone put that elastomeric crapola on it and there is a couple below layers of OD that are really goooooooooy like tar. Swipe the grinder head over it and it just spreads - but it is getting there.

An ole lesson I learned years ago from folks as old as PB and Wm - when you reassemble a component - always use the same liquid or lube that component operates in.
