The lever on the winch is NOT a "clutch". The lever on the winch is too lock the drum to the main shaft. Lock in or out thats it. Here's the pic so you can see for your self. Do these parts look like they were ment to be moved from in to out when moving...

The pads that came with mine aren't too good either. I may make some new one with treated wood or maybe that composit decking stuff. So it will not rot so fast. Just one more thing to add to my list,let's now that will be page #45,694rofl
So did anyone here save the fire truck deuce's in UT. They had a good looking Class 530B on a M44 chassis with the single rear wheels and 2 530C's on M45 chassis. I whish I had the $$ to have gotten them:cry::cry: I hope they don't become bobbers or scrap.
Inside the axle houing is a steel piece that holds the iner seal. You have to remove that to replace the seal. When reinstalling it you need to use rtv or the sealant of your choice, to seal it to the axle housing. I have pic,but they are on my broken computer:(
The clamp bolt goes to about the 2-3 o'clock per the fig's . The note says the top.?. Step 9 say to bend the screws to prevent loosening, but this would also keep the screw from treaing the boot.
The inner axle seal retainer needs to be sealed.
