Speaking of rolling resistance. Put a set of LT235/75R15 all seasons on and get away from the 10.5 tread width. Really you don't need the wide tires. I have 4WD pick ups that go fine with tall thin tires on road and off. Not mud bogging or severe off road. But under normal off road use. Snow...
I hauled scrap materials today and had to stop to unlock the hubs. I took a picture of the truck. the top I haul aluminum and the bottom steel. This truck sits really nice on the stock LT23585/R16 Goodyear Duratraks and with the new springs all around it handles the weight well. Drives really...
I never got the motor mounts from my friend. He is never home when I call. I did get to work a few hours on my engine for the M1008.I also want to say a word about fuel pumps. Left is incorrect. Bottom is correct (note straight lever no bend.) I ordered a fuel pump from NAPA and they sent the...
I am just a little Pennsylvania Dutch. We say things like "You want to go with"? And throw the cow over the fence some hay. The magnet as it appears is how it was when I removed it. Is that better? :)The differential cover and the backing plates are soaking in the parts washer for a few days...
That's never going to happen. I can 100% guarantee that. This current brake system will work this way till the end of time. No need for big budget changes. It made it 2 years of hard wheeling. Who knows how long it will hold up and where it will be in 2 years. Maybe someone will buy it and make...
I agree. The glow plugs look like they were new and they were over heated from the cranking and no start fuel issue. I see the glow plugs swelling and explode if you bench test them and let them get to hot. The CUCV even needs glow plugs in 90 degree weather for a cold start.
I don't know about all that. But I did buy 3 1999 G-vans (school bus cutaways)that had 6.5 turbo diesels in them. I pulled the engine from one and the heads were different and the turbo was at a different location. I needed an engine from a pick up or suburban. Long story short when scrap went...
My experience is that there must be fuel present for the engine to continue running. The engine will not run on either. It will run wild when fuel is present. But it will not start and continue on either. I say it has a fuel issue. A small whiff of either should be all it takes to get it...
I was just about to jump in the shower when the phone rang. I like to ignore the phone but then the Wife's phone rang and the house phone. What was amidst? It seems Jr had decided to try out his new tires on Mad Cow Disease. He failed miserably on the first time out. He likes to go in the lowest...
I was looking underneath Terminus M1009 and seen the worst rear tailpipe hangers I ever seen. That was a field repair gone awry. I will be cutting them off and replacing both hangers with swinger universal hangers. Terminus M1009 is in fairly good shape on the under side. For the shape its in...
I wanted to pull the axles and I was also wanting to look at the inside of the differential. After all that abuse and hard service the oil is as clean as honey. Check out that magnet. Guys that wheeled with me know how hard I ran this truck. I knew when to let off and have stock tires. I still...
I am not sure how many miles I drove Terminus M1009 since its resurrection. But in that amount of time and travel it has completely wore out a set of rear brakes and the front pads are down to the rivets also. The right front caliper was locked up and the right rear axle seal was leaking. Like I...
I wish I could help more. That is what I found. I never heard of 6.2 diesel heads being different. But I do NOT claim to know all about this subject. I looked at several sources and they list them for a 1984 K30 with a 6.2. They are going to be the ones to get. I would not be afraid of heads...
I bought boxed kits for the u joints on both trucks and blazers. I bought 2 sets of each and they are genuine dana/spicer. Less then $40. for all 4 sets. That was strap and bolts and u bolt lock washers and nuts. By the time I bought them I had found used ones I had stashed. This is the same...
